On the first week at Grandma’s, a man named Shotgun Cheatman died. Everyone in the town went to the funeral because he was the well known assistant to the Mayor. The funeral was held in Grandma’s house and a creepy thing happened that night when Tom the cat crawled inside the casket. The next day, Joey, Mary Alice and Grandma left the house and walked across fields of tall grass and “cow pies aplenty” to Salt Creek to go fishing. They found an old wooden boat and Grandma rowed the boat out into the creek. While on their fishing adventure, they encountered a cottonmouth snake that fell into the boat and a party of drunken men on land dancing in their underwear.
Fresno, California Easterby Elementary School , recess time, and the day of “The Kickball War”. The time was a quarter till noon, teacher still teaching, as every student begins to pace their feet up and down from sitting in their seats with such excitement. As I stared straight at the clock waiting too see the long hand line up within the short hand to strike 12:00pm, Tj tap my shoulder pointing out the window nodding his head while leaning toward the basket with all the sports and recess equipment. I knew for a fact what that meant, so I occasionally gave him a huge smile and nodded my head back at him, while slowly moving my lips to say the words “Kick ball”. Seeing how the time was near to head out, shortly, and without any hesitation Tj tied his shoes to prepare to dash right out the door! I felt my heart racing with such
The purpose of the essay is to give some light on the Maine Lobster Festival. Being held every year in late July, thousands of people are in attendance to the states festivities. One descriptive writing that is used in this essay is descriptive language. They focus on ideas that are coinciding with their thesis. I believe the writer uses descriptive language as he describes the story in which he is telling to his readers. In, Consider the Lobster, Wallace (2004) states,"The point is that lobsters are basically giant sea-insects.3

On August 2, 2015 I attended Barge music Concerts where I had the chance to familiarize myself with masterworks series of two amazing composers. Antonio Vivaldi and his concerto for 4 violins and orchestra in B minor, RV 580 that were performed in three movements allegro, largo – larghetto and allegro. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 in G Major, K. 216, that were preform in allegro, adagio, rondeau (allegro). And sinfonia concertante for violin, viola and orchestra in E-flat major, K. 364 also composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and it was also performed in three movement allegro maestoso, andante, presto. This masterpieces were perform by Alexander Mishnaevski who played the viola, Mark Peskanov, Gregory Durozel, Kyungha Ko were playing on a violin and Gregory Singer who was a conductor and who also played a violin. What I loved the most about this concert is that each piece of music was field with emotions and was very uplifting. Also in a small space like a barge it was very easy to see witch instrum...
It was the third night of summer vacation and the narrator and his two friends, Digby and Jeff, wanted to show the world that they were misfits. That they were ready to cut loose and indulge in their hedonistic desires because it was hip to be reckless, uninhibited, and rotten. They were restless and bored, cruising around with the headlights pointed at the dawn and having all the time in the world and nothing to do with it. They were cruising around looking for action and excitement, "looking for something they never found", and looking for a way to scratch an itch that they couldn't scratch since the beginning of the summer. And in their minds, having fun was synonymous with being bad.
After reading the poem entitled “Youth”, I felt that James Wright was not only describing the life of his father but also the lives of the many other factory workers in the Ohio Valley. Many of these workers had either dropped out of school or went straight to the factories after high school, never really getting a chance to enjoy their lives as young `````adults. I think that has something to do with the title of this poem. It’s clear that Wright knew his father and the other men were not satisfied with their jobs and just chose not to speak about it. These factory workers slaved away and then came home “quiet as the evening” probably because they were content to just be relaxing at home with their families. They knew that this was their way of life and they had to do it, even if they had big dreams to someday get away. I think that Wright was also trying to make a point that these men who worked so hard every day were not valued as much as they should have been. These men did not have the education to get a higher paying job but they did have the proper skills and knowledge to work in the factories. I like that James Wright mentioned Sherwood Anderson in this poem as I enjoy his work. Anderson left his Ohio hometown for Chicago to pursuit bigger and better things because he knew if he stayed in the area, he would be unhappy. However, it is a little ironic that Anderson one day just got up and left in the middle of writing and was said to have a mental breakdown.
One of the main symbols of the story is the setting. It takes place in a normal small town on a nice summer day. "The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blooming profusely and the grass was richly green." (Jackson 347).This tricks the reader into a disturbingly unaware state,
