Remember when you went to the movies and got one of those large cups of Coca Cola and watched the newest release? Well now some states are trying to get rid of those large soda cups. The government is intervening with public health, and this should not be allowed. The government, whether this be the federal or state, should not intervene in public health decisions. Part of this has to do with the importance of having too much soda. The state governments have too many other things to deal with than people drinking large sodas. For example, a big topic today is plastics in the ocean. According to Perseus-net, as many as one hundred thousand marine animals are killed each year by plastics in the ocean. Also on that site, one million birds die a year from plastics you and I use daily. According to CNN, only twenty five thousand citizens die a year from overuse of soda. Yes this is still a large amount of citizens, but there are more than a million animals being killed per year by plastics, versus our twenty five thousand, let that sink in for a moment. According to CNBC, Coca Cola made just under ten million dollars this year. Without larger soda cups, Coca Cola will make a much lesser amount of money, just under seven and half million. Big soda companies like Coke and Pepsi could lose up to three million dollars. That means the people working at the big plants will be payed a much lesser amount. According to CNBC, there are just over one hundred and twenty thousand people working for Coca Cola.
