Since 1935, retired people once a month go to the mailbox to pick up their social security check. It's no secret that the social security system is starting to become overrun by the "baby boomer" generation. The government needs to make changes to correct this and other soon to be glaring problems in the social security program. We need to privatize social security because the system was good for the time it was created in, however with the changed times the social security system needs to become privatized.

However Congress doesn’t have such restrictions when creating the law. When Social security was invented in 1935. In was put that the Congress has the right to change, abolish, or add any provisions to the original act. Therefore, Congress could rule that some people couldn’t receive benefits as the case of Flemming vs. Nestor. Ephram Nestor was a Bulgarian immigrant who came to America in 1913, and lived in America for 43 years, then in 1956, he was deported for being in the Communist party from 1933 to 1939. Being in the Communist party wasn’t illegal at the time, or reason for deportation. This case shows that the right to Social Security benefits is not a given right. Many people think that Social Security will be automatically given in its entirety to the individual. They believe this because they have paid into the Social Security system, they are entitled to receive Social Security benefits. The government doesn’t defined it as paying into the system, they define it as “contributions” in the Federal Insurance Contribution
