“What is that Mickey Mouse on your shirt?” “Your skirt is too short,” “I think you need muscles to wear that shirt,” “I think my little sister has the same outfit.” These are just a few hurtful comments towards others. But, there is a way to fix these hurtful remarks. I believe, all schools should require school uniforms to be worn by all students. I think this because uniforms will help families save money, improve safety, and prevent bullying. To start off with, school uniforms should be required at all schools because, it will help families save money. Many parents are repetitively buying new clothes due to the new style, bullying, and because outfits are getting worn out. More and more schools are getting threats and schools are being attacked. For an example, someone could be walking throughout a school, but if everyone had certain uniforms the intruder would stand out. This would allow, everyone to get out of the school quicker and safer. To add on, the U.S. Department of Education states “school uniforms can help reduce theft, violence, and the negative effects of peer pressure caused when some students come to school wearing designer clothing and expensive sneakers.” They also state, “a uniform code also prevents gang members from wearing colors and insignia that could cause trouble and helps school officials recognize intruders who do not belong on campus”. As you can see, school uniforms help make schools safer by making it so the intruder does not have a big reason to come like the price of certain outfits kids are wearing. To add on, uniforms can prevent gangs within the school. Furthermore, on a survey both students and teachers got a question asking if you agree, strongly agree, neutral, disagree, and or strongly disagree on if school uniforms will improve safety. 35.32% of teachers agreed or strongly agreed school uniforms will improve safety and 38.81% of teachers were neutral. To add on, 26.33% of elementary students agreed or strongly agrees and 19.67% were neutral. As you can see, almost or over half of teachers and
