Should Radio Stations Sensor Songs?

Have you ever been jamming to your favorite song on the radio and every swear they put a beep or some random word? For example, “Walk up to the club like, 'What up? I got a big (beep).' I'm so pumped about some (beep) from the thrift shop.” It tends to get very annoying. So the question is, should radio stations censor songs? Most parents will say yes. They do not want their children to hear those words. I have respect for these parents. Except, my opinion is different. I think radio stations should not censor songs but they should have warnings.

There are a couple of different ways that I can think of for radio stations not to censor songs without parents worrying about their children hearing swears. One of which is to put a warning before inappropriate songs. Before a bad song comes on the radio station should put in a voice recording that says, “Parental discretion is advised.” Or something like that. Sometimes on Kiss 95.7 the people on the station announce a song before it comes on. When they do this before a bad song they could simply say, “This song contains inappropriate language. Parental discretion is advised.” Some parents will still be against my argument. Children today have access to the radio without having their parents around. I understand that they might ignore the warning and listen to the song anyways. However, I see no harm in a child hearing a bad song if they know that they should not go out and use that kind of language. I think it partially has to do with how a child is raised.

Another way I can think of for radio stations not to censor music, is to have certain stations to play non censored music. Just like on television when some channels can say inappropriate words that other stations can not say. Y...

.... My three year old even watched me give birth. LOL!” So all parents really do have their own views on censorship. It is also pretty true that children are going to learn inappropriate language somewhere. I think it is better if their parents just let them hear it and explain the meaning of it. Or at least tell them that it is a bad word and if they say it they could get in a lot of trouble.

I do not know if this will ever be a valid argument. However, I do know that there are other arguments out there that I am sure parents should be more concerned about. Like the debate on legalizing Marijuana. If any arguments ever come to a conclusion, they will never really be closed. People will always have different opinions on what they want for themselves and their families. I think that what ever you opinion may be on censorship, you should abide by it the best you can.
