Having an assignment in every school has been always debated again and again. The purpose of having homework is for the students to become independent, to enhance and to improve their knowledge and also to help every children to gain more knowledge and ideas of what they have learned in school. This study is really important it is also not for the students but also for the teachers. They should know how far the child can do. They need to be aware of what is the essence of having homework. (Hayward, 2010) The Department of Education (DepEd) has ordered the heads of public elementary schools to refrain from giving students homework during the weekend for them to have their free time and family time, meaningfully. It is said that homework really did its job over the years. Homework does a lot to children including their improvement in their study habits, the attitude that they have at school and outside of it, gaining independent problem-solving skills and many more. (Johnson, 2016) The debate about homework should be based on the students if they need to find a solution about it. Not all classrooms have the same way about education. Teachers and educators should know how to decide the amount of homework they should give on each class based on what they need. All schools are not the same because each schools have different types of students that they serve. (Johnson, 2016) “In fact, in this study, low ability student who spent one to three hours on homework each week, achieved grades comparable to an average ability student who did not spend any time on homework. “(Keith, 1982) “Students benefited from regular homework because they were practicing new concepts, previewing concepts to be learned or reviewing previous concepts.” (Trautwein, 2002)
