Should Digital Immigrants Use Technology In The Classroom?

At present, since the technology have already become one of the most significant parts of people’s lives, the educational system is also changing by utilizing high-tech. Nevertheless, an issue happens because of the argument between both Digital Natives and Immigrants teacher regarding using technology in class. Teachers who are young generations think computers and projectors will assist them in their teaching approach; however, Digital Immigrants are still accustomed to their old-fashioned way, using book and notebooks for teaching. In my opinion, Digital Immigrants should start utilizing technology in class, and there are three methods could assist them.

To begin with, providing teacher training for older generations is one approach to improve their skills of using technology. To be more specific, not only will teachers learn a totally different way of teaching, but they also could be enlightened by utilizing high-tech. First, the efficiency of work will be promoted if older teachers use technology. Nowadays, a large number of older teachers’ time is saved for they will type instead of write on the notebook for preparing classes, and don’t need to write on board but showing documents by projectors and TVs for students. Also, if both students and teachers have emergencies like canceling class, texting or sending emails will be the most time-saving way to inform. Second, using technology to giving grades and comments for students is a good idea. For instance, Canvas is one of the most significant web systems for students in studies at Case Western Reserve University, for it is convenient for students could learn their due dates of assignments and grades of homework. Thus, without technology, Digital Immigrants cannot enjoy convenience and efficiency while
