“At over $15 billion, not including provincial or private debt, Canadian youth are now the most indebted generation in the country’s history. Average tuition fess have increased at three times the rate of inflation in the last year alone,” (“Funding for Education,” 2015) imagine being apart of the most indebted generation in Canadian history. Though Ontario students do have OSAP (Ontario Student Opportunity Grant), other students outside of Ontario do not and have to pay for school with their own money or a student bank loan. The job market is sparse and students need high education in order to have at least a shot to getting a good paying job. “Engineers, nurses, investment bankers and software developers are just a few jobs that pay from $47,000 to $112,000” a year (Hughes, 2015). The jobs listed are all from graduating University. Receiving a good education, and graduating with a job like one of those listed, you will earn a lot of money for the job you will be working until retirement. Education also leads to happiness. Increased education leads to greater career opportunities, and with most people, they will choose a job they will enjoy for the rest of their life. “When people are intensely engaged in doing and learning new things, their well-being and happiness can blossom. In terms of happiness, learning is the degree of engagement people have with tasks that provide them knowledge and fulfillment. People who are intensely absorbed in a task can lose track of time and place. Hours pass like minutes. They may be tired by the task but emerge energized and happy. This condition is known as "flow," a name coined 30 years ago by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi” (Moeller, 2012). Being able to choose between different career opportunities without having to worry about how much it is going to cost is satisfying. Students constantly change their mind with what career path they want to proceed with, knowing they will be in that field of study for the rest of their lives. Nowadays if you go into a program and get fairly far into the year, and then decide that you do not like the program and you want to drop out, you will still have to owe the school money. If you get the opportunity to go into a program but then change without having to be in debt, it will not worry you anymore. Having an open mind to every possibility and chance you have, will help you narrow down the differences between what you like, what you enjoy, and what you love. Students will have the chance to be an “all-around player”. This meaning having a student be able to go into multiple career choices means that they will have an organized understanding of the fundamentals and will be very versatile. Employers nowadays seek certain things in people to see if they are the right person to hire for the job. “Ability to work in a team, ability to make decisions and solve problems, ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, ability to communicate verbally with people inside and outside an organization, and the ability to obtain and process information.
