In conclusion, a family is presented as a haven of care and love and a social unit of teaching values, especially for growing kids. However, the family does not seclude a person from the larger society, thereby giving all the members a choice to live their own life. Through the review of the movie, Tom and Matt were used by the director to define family and cultural values.
She would mostly be alone and sit by herself being buried in books or watching cartoons. In high school she attended a program for troubled adolescents and from there she received a wide range of support from helping her get braces to helping her get information to attend community college. (59) Even with this she was already too emotionally unstable due to her family issues and felt like she couldn’t go through with her dreams to travel and even go into the art of culinary. She suffers from psychological problems such as depression and worries constantly about almost every aspect in her life from work to family to her boyfriend and just hopes that her life won’t go downhill. (60) Overall Kayla’s family structure shows how different is it now from it was in the 1950’s as divorce rates have risen and while before Kayla’s type of family structure was rare now it is becoming more common. This story helps illustrate the contributions of stress that children possess growing up in difficult homes in which they can’t put their own futures first they must, in some cases, take care of their guardian’s futures first or others around them. Again, this adds into the inequality that many face when it comes to being able to climb up the ladder and become successful regardless of where one
Lareau studied these families by using qualitative methodology and observed twelve different families with the focus on children between the ages of nine and ten (third and fourth graders). The racial distribution of her study was six white children, five African Americans, and one multiracial family coming from two different school districts, Lower Richmond and Swan School. What bring the families together are the similarities and differences between their parenting styles. Lareau does an exceptionally good job at showing the advantages and disadvantages of concerted cultivation and accomplishment of natural growth and how these parenting can or will affect the children’s future.
Also, the family members need to be able to express their feelings without attacking each other and causing drama. “Epstein and Baucon describes helping clients learn to set clear, behavioral goals without attacking other families members’ ideas, evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of each proposed solution, and then selecting a solution that appears to be feasible and agreeable to all” (p. 201). For example, Mary’s learn to express their concern with what Gladys is doing with her life. She feels that caregivers don’t trust their children and that they rather than giving their child commands. I see some similarities of my life and experiences that I found in the text. When I was growing up, I pretty much had a childhood. Me and my sister will play outside and do things without being supervised by my parents. We were able to explore outside and make up games to play with other kids. When it rain and snow me and my sister will use our imagination and create games such as house or school. My parents didn 't control our childhood they didn 't create activities, nor tell me what to do with our free time. I was pretty much free. But as I got older, parents started to be involved in my life and started to plan my future. The concepts of the worldviews, biases, and assumptions that are used in the text is that parents make it difficult for their children to interact with their surroundings because it ends with the consequences. Ellen claims that a child should learn how to use their imagination instead of following the rules. The worldviews that are found in my personal and education life is that the author’s perspective about how she see the world relates to
...er strength and commitment to "being the best she can be" through her desire to "keep up with society." This is demonstrated through her eagerness to learn to use a computer and her utiilization of the Internet and E-mail. However, the common theme Maxine discussed during the interviews was her love and dedication to her "Christian family." Her almost life long, loyal involvement, with her Church has given her membership in a Christian family. This Christian family fills a vital role in her life. This same Christian family gave her the opportunity to meet her current husband and best friend. I am grateful for the opportunity to conduct two separate interviews with Maxine. Her story is interesting and encouraging. As I progress towards my "golden years," I hope that I will maintain a healthy body, mind and soul. This formula has obviously worked for Maxine.
Parent/Child relationships are very hard to establish among individuals. This particular relationship is very important for the child from birth because it helps the child to be able to understand moral and values of life that should be taught by the parent(s). In the short story “Teenage Wasteland”, Daisy (mother) fails to provide the proper love and care that should be given to her children. Daisy is an unfit parent that allows herself to manipulated by lacking self confidence, communication, and patience.
She educates parents about the process of building a relationship with someone and the challenges that come with it because of the lack of ability of “grasping what another is feeling”. Harmon touches on the danger parents being overprotective of their children and highlights on parents working so hard at only helping with school and friendships that they overlook or forget that the autistic child, when older, still wants to “find someone to love who will love them back”. Later in the article, Harmon addresses the parents again about being overprotective. Kirsten was asked this question from a parent in an

(Smith, and Hamon 2012). Based on the Family Systems Theory, families need to be viewed as
Some of the activities the child or children may be involved in could be FFA, girl or boy scouts, holiday concerts, traveling teams, such as volleyball, basketball, and football. Later on in the children’s future they may also decide to have children, making their parents, grandparents. Grandparents may spoil their children at times, but are going to spoil their grandchildren even more. Parents will get to share the love of their children with other friends or family members that would also love to spoil their children.
A parent is the role model of a child. Parents could affect children in either good or bad ways. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus is a good example to affect Scout and Jem. Atticus tries to teach them how to become a real person in the world. In contrast, Mr. Ewell is the example of affecting his kids badly. Mr. Ewell abused Mayella, and made Mayella lie in court. These relationships show people the importance of relationships between parents and their children, and how parent's effects are important to their children's
Marilyn Monroe was the iconic Hollywood star: she encompassed both a childlike innocence, as well as a sensuality and promiscuity that had men and women both checking their blood pressure. However, many people do not know the events leading up to her alleged suicide aside from her appearances on the big screen and in photoshoots. Her childhood and family history led to many of the problems she dealt with in her adult life, which was also far from uneventful. Her outward personality was charismatic and enticing, though she often felt incomplete and miserable. She was both praised and ridiculed for her sexual exploits and other actions, which further confounded her. She detached from her personal reality and instead conformed to what others expected her to be, complying to their desires to receive affection. She kept her distance from people, even those whom she desired to connect with. A short biographical account is required to fully understand her personality development, after which we will apply a couple theories to her personality: Karen Horney’s theory and Erik Erikson’s theory, specifically his psychosocial stages of development.
