Scrooge started off as an angry man. A man who could care less about Christmas or anything else for that matter. Scrooge originally had a kind and giving heart, but it was turned to cold after the death of his friend, Marley. After taking a look into the past, Scrooge is finding his true colors, once again. Scrooge is changing into a better man because, the spirit is impacting him, by showing Scrooge his Christmas past.

At the beginning of the story Scrooge was seemed to only be interested in money. After seeing his Christmas past he had a different concern. ‘“He has spent but a few pounds on your mortal money: three or four perhaps. Is that so much that he deserves this praise?” “It isn’t that,” said Scrooge, heated by the remark, and speaking …show more content…

At the beginning of the story Scrooge was very inconsiderate and rude. ‘“Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,” returned the gentlemen, “a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink, and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, we Want keenly felt, the Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?” “Nothing!” Scrooge replied.” (pg. 13) I think that Scrooge is regretting his decisions when it comes to Christmas, and donating to the less fortunate.

Changed by his past, Scrooge is becoming more thoughtful and giving. ‘“There was boy singing a Christmas carol at my door last night. I should like to have given him something: that’s all.”’ (pg. 33) After seeing his young self, Scrooge was feeling sorry for the boy at his doorstep.

Scrooge is modifying himself into a selfless man, once again. Marley, his deceased friend, has impacted him by sending a spirit to show Scrooge his Christmas past. The first spirit influenced Scrooge by showing him his life from long-ago and reminding him that Christmas is about giving and being the best person you can be, as well as
