Recommended: Effects of not wearing school uniform

A school uniform is a certain outfit that is worn by all students every day in a particular school. A dress code is a published list of clothes that are permitted to be worn in school. A school uniform eliminates all the other possibilities of wearing inappropriate clothing. A school uniform clearly states what to be worn and no other articles of clothing are to be worn. Brooklyn College Academy is a high school that has a school uniform. Different grades have different uniforms but everyone is still treated the same. Brooklyn College Academy has enforced a dress code by having a school uniform policy and should maintain having one.
Having a school uniform provides safety for the students attending the school. Bullying does not take place because all students are wearing the same clothing. On student cannot judge another student for not wearing trendy clothing. According to Mariam Wilde in the article “Do uniforms make schools better?” he states, “School uniforms can diminish economic and social barriers between students” (Wilde 1). A poor student with low income has the same position in school as a wealthy student. This example can also prevent peer pressure. No one has to buy trendy clothes they cannot afford. Brooklyn College Academy maintaining a school uniform can inhibit bullying from occurring. Another example of students being safe while wearing school uniforms is if in intruder entered the school. According to Lindsay Lowe from the article “School Uniforms on the Rise” she states, “With children wearing uniforms, campus security officers can easily identify anyone who doesn’t belong” (Lowe 1). High school students meet the age requirements to have a job. They can work for their own uniform and do not waste. School uniforms in Brooklyn College Academy’s students can express themselves other ways and do not have to spend a lot of money on school uniforms.
By having a school uniform in Brooklyn College Academy, it will be easier to enforce a dress code. The safety of the students will be protected by wearing a school uniform. Grades will continue to improve by having a school uniform. There will not be much stress as a student not wearing school uniform. They know what they will wear in the morning. Brooklyn College Academy should keep the school uniforms and the dress code.
