Water is essential to San Diego’s economy, quality of life and world-famous environment. Meeting the City’s current and future water supply needs is the mission of the City’s Water Department. The City has been fulfilling this mission for over 103 years. Now, in 2004, the City has a water supply and demand challenge. The City’s current population of 1.3 million will grow to an estimated 1.9 million in 2030. By that time, San Diego will need 25 percent more water than it uses now.

Osmosis is the facilitated diffusion of water across the cell membrane of a cell. The inside layer of the cell membrane is hydrophilic, meaning water cannot easily pass through the membrane. The cell membrane has to have aquaporins, which are water channel proteins, that move the water across the membrane. If there is a water and salt solution outside the cell, the salt can enter the cell by diffusion, but the cell membrane is not permeable to the water. Because there is more solute solution inside the cell, there is less water. The aquaporins move the water across the membrane until equilibrium is reached.

San Francisco de los Tejas is another one of the first missions. It was the first mission built in East Texas. It was called Tejas because they had met Hasinai people along the Colorado River. The word Tejas means "friend". The Tejas mission was built after the Spanish found out about La Salle's fort. Tejas was built out of logs, unlike many of the missions. This was probably so because it was built in the Piney Woods or Post Oak Belt subregion. Trees in these subregions are plentiful. Tejas had been intended for the Caddo tribe. The Caddo were the most advanced tribe and didn't need the food, protection, or shelter the priests offered. Without the Caddo's support the mission was failing greatly. The Spanish government decided to stop funding money for the mission. Before the priests went back to Mexico, they buried the bell and hoped to return one day.

Although the short and long versions bear some similarities, the differences between them are strong. The long versions gives specific details, which leave no room for thought. While the short passage, the writer lets the readers put their imagination to use, trying to figure out what had, has, and is going to happen in the story. In both versions, the author starts by stating an identical theme, Claire Husband was seating at the table eating. I am against the desalination of ocean water because it is harming a lot of the animals in the ocean and it makes it difficult for the economy because they are using a lot of the money for the desalination. The desalination is taking out millions of gallons of water from the ocean while harming sea life and in the end only half of that water is drinkable. Even though they have been in a drought for many years the water desalination negatively affects many more things.
