“Sports have influenced my life in numerous ways,” Samone Chatman revealed. Samone, a seventeen year old senior, at Forest High School, has a very strong love for athletics. She not only watches them on television but is an athlete herself. She participates in three sports at her school. Samone plays varsity basketball, tennis, and participates in track and field.
She states, “Of the three sports I play, basketball is my favorite.” She became a member of the junior team her seventh grade year of school. Samone described how she became involved in basketball by saying, “After I was asked to try-out several times and declined each, I decided to be the manager so I could learn more about the game. When I was asked to try-out the next year, I did and quickly realized what I had been missing out on.” Samone, since then, has been playing the sport six years for the lady dawgs; she has fallen completely in love with the idea basketball.
Samone is five foot eleven and a half inches tall. She, a starter for what will be her fourth year this season, is a highly successful post player. She has been awarded with several athletic honors in basketball alone: second team all district her sophomore year, second team all district her junior year, and offered to play in an Elite 80 camp.

Last year, during the basketball season Chatman started to have a sharp pain in both knee that continued to occur in tennis and track. She felt it would be a good idea to get it looked act before the 2015-2016 season started. She went to the doctor and found that she had patella lateral that was causing her to have fluid buildup in both knee caps. “Having knee problems caused running sweet sixteens and sprints much more difficult,” Samone pronounced. She is a very hard working and determined athlete that has not let this stop her from preparing for her first
