Advertisements are everywhere; from telephone poles announcing a local yard sale two miles away, a local bus bench publicizing a new realtor that will apparently sell a house in a week span, a comic picture on the back of a milk carton advertizing the 2017 “Star Wars” movie, or a TV commercial proclaiming the next weight loss plan. They come in different forms as they surround us in our everyday life. The real purpose of advertising is to tell a story. The mind and imagination are powerful tools allowing interpretation to form. The purpose of ads are sometimes vague, comical or do not have a specific motive. Though there are some advertisements worth noting and paying attention to, conveying a purpose that we as a society need to endure. One in six women are victims of abuse, showing the reality and occurrence of abuse. It is a logical argument that the Salvation Army implants within the advertisement. A mom, a friend, a teacher, a sister could be struggling day by day and the world and yourself have been blind to it. It could happen to anyone because it happens to sixteen percent of the world.
The organization ingrains a mixture of emotions within our hearts and minds. It makes us think a little harder about this issue of physical abuse. The organization is able to convey these emotions within us is because we know they are being truthful and honest about the problem. The Salvation Army is a world renowned organization that does so many good deeds throughout the world, helping many diverse people in many different problem areas.
