Sadie – Ten minutes later, after the pinecone incident, the wrestling students were on the bus headed to a nearby town for their tournament. We wave goodbye to them as they drive out of the parking lot. I walk back to my locker and grab my duffel bag. The bell rings and I stand at the edge of the hall to avoid the traffic of oncoming students. “Sadie!” I hear someone call my name. I look down the hall to see Shayla, waving for me to come join her. I walk her way and nod at Heather, passing by me. “Don’t forget about that history assignment!” she tells me. “Wouldn’t dream of it,” I tell her and grin. When the halls finally clear, and the tardy bell rings, I join Shayla in the hallway for our free period. “So, did you have fun this morning?” I ask Shayla. Then my thoughts direct to a more serious matter. “Did you have that dream again last night?” I ask her, as I pull out my history book to catch up on my unfinished work. “Yep,” she sighs, “Again.” “The one with the weird black, figures that are attacking our town, and someone or something, is telling you that you gotta fight. And you can’t fight back for some reason, and they attack you. But before they kill you, you wake up.” “That’s the one,” says Shayla. “Well, me too.” “Gosh. What is it now? A week this has been going on?” “I think so,” I say, “Do you think it means something? Why would it be us?” “I don’t know. It must mean something, I mean, same dreams, for a whole week, and you and I are having similar ones.” “And these dreams seem much more real and vivid than normal dreams.” “I know,” she stares at the wall for a second and I can tell she’s thinking. I don’t interrupt her. Finally she shrugs and pulls out her calculator and immediately begins punching buttons, so fast, I don’t care to pay attention. “I’m not sure, but let me finish this assignment first, and then we’ll think about
