According to Chinsky (2011), “Locally Hosted service essentially means you buy software solution from publisher or value added reseller and installed in the hosting center, where either physical or virtualized server are setup.” Locally Hosted service is a date back service, which is used for commercial computing in early years. The data is more secured in generally hosted service as compare to software as a service because the data will remain within organization. While in Saas the database is shared by many customers. So, the risk will increase will keeping the confedential data using software as a service and also Saas service can be stopped if the payment is not made on time for particular service. Saas will provide customer service on demand. That is, Saas service uses scalability the data to remove the unrequired resources and also provide resources on demand. While locally hosted service will provide with whole data even if it is not required.
The multi-tenant applications by Saas will helps in reducing the cost, as every customers uses the common database through encapsulation. While locally hosted service will produce different database for each customer which will increase the load on system.
The system is regularly updated regularly in Saas which will enhance the quality of data. While in locally hosted service the its irregular.
The integration between more than one SaaS application (such as ERP & CRM) can be done by the vendors, but is usually difficult for end users. However, when done properly, it can look and work seamlessly, almost as if one solution.
