SWOT Analysis Of UMHB

UMHB’s vision statement is, “UMHB will be the university of choice for Christian higher education in the Southwest” (UMHB, 2016). In this essay I will do a SWOT analysis of UMHB to see if the university is working towards its vision. I will identify UMHB’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

The strengths that UMHB has are the small classroom sizes, a small campus, good landscaping, good football team, and free Microsoft Office 2013. The small classroom sizes are a strength because it allows the students and professors to have a better interaction. Unlike larger classrooms, the smaller classrooms allow the students ask more questions. Also, gives the professor the capability to do in class activities to help the students understand the information better. The reason that UMHB’s campus size is a strength is because of the walking distance isn’t as far as the larger universities in Texas. Good

The reason that the lack of parking spaces is a weakness is because of the limited parking it means there’s a good chance that students will have to park on the other side of campus, and walk a longer distance in order to get to their classes. UMHB being expensive is a weakness because it can hinder a person from becoming a student, which will hinder the growth that the university is looking for. Having to take classes that are not related to your major is a weakness. For instance, taking old testament and new testament classes, these classes are not needed for the majority of the majors offered at UMHB. This slows down the process of a student graduating. Lastly, the lack of available professors is a weakness because it limits the number of classes available. This can cause the students to not be able to take the classes that they need because they’re not
