On 06/11/18 at 11:28 AM ET, MM Andrew Aiken reported a non-associate felt SSG Emily Clarke had accused her of shoplifting so she threatened her at 3:45 PM GMT on 6/11/18. Clarke felt the non-associate was trying to place an accessory bag in to her own shopping bag. Clarke told the security guard over the headset that she felt that he was need in the backroom. The daughter of the non-associate overheard what Clarke had said over the headset and told the non-associate. The non-associate, who was upset, that Clarke had accused her of shoplifting, went over to Clarke, and began to curse and yell at Clarke. Aiken attempted to deescalate the situation with the non-associate, when the non-associate offered to have the associates look in her bags
Kenneth Dascoli filed a complaint against Arthur Kelly, Esq., on August 10, 2015. Dascoli alleges that Kelly deprived him of a fair trial in a criminal matter, essentially due to lack of preparation. The lack of preparation consisted of failing to visit the complainant while he was being held in jail, failing to interview witnesses, and failing to prepare for trial. Kelly has allegedly violated Mass.R.Prof.C. 1., 1.3, and 8.4(d).
Ashley Smith was a young girl that was placed in a juvenile detention centre at age 15 for throwing apples at a mail man. Her short sentence quickly extended into a life sentence because of so many infractions within the prison system. Ashley suffered from extreme mental health issues and was place in a psychiatric prison facility, however this facility was shown in the documentary to be corrupt and their actions with Ashley were extremely illegal. Furthermore, Ashley wasn’t given the proper help and treatment that she needed, instead she was physically and verbally abused by guards in the prison, and she ultimately passed away in the prison. In California in 2000, Gary Ewing stole three golf clubs worth $399 each. The crime itself was not egregious; however, Ewing was on parole for a prior offense and was convicted for felony grand theft (“Ewing v. California”, n.d.). Under the three strikes law, it was discovered that he had previously been convicted for four serious or violent felonies. The court, at their discretion, had the option to reduce the conviction to a misdemeanor. Life is bursting with temptation everywhere and based on peer pressure, if you can’t get something you want you rather find another way to get it. Individuals of the community rather act out of action without thinking about it first, which can lead them to the severe consequences of their actions. Then you later think what I did was wrong, I could have prohibited that by doing it differently. Afterward, you feel a great deal of emotions running through your mind; encumbrance, sorrow, and helplessness. My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside.
Why do people shoplifting? Reasons why people may have shoplifted are the sibling role models or wanting to gain attention. There are approximately 27 million shoplifters, 25 percent are kids, and 75 percent are adults. An average shoplifter would steal at least twice a week but, in my case, shoplifting occurred more than twice a week. I was never told if shoplifting was normal or not normal however, shoplifting made me happy when I shoplifted. Through multiple experiences, I learned that shoplifting is not only abnormal, but it is harmful to my past relationship and reputation.
