Have you ever experienced racial injustice in your life? The book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor takes place in 1933 in Mississippi. This book includes racial injustice in many ways, including the Wallace family, the school, and what occurred in Strawberry. I’m going to start off by telling about the injustice that occurred because of the Wallaces. The Wallace family burned the Berry’s. One of the Berry’s were killed and another was severely injured. The Wallaces store was not a family-friendly environment for the Logan’s, so the parents made sure the kids stayed away from there. The Logan’s and some other families actually started shopping in a different town, called Strawberry, to avoid the Wallaces. On a trip back from Strawberry Papa got shot by the Wallaces, and he also broke his leg in this incident. This is one way the book showed racial injustice. …show more content…

Simms who is white. Also at the store in Strawberry Cassie was waiting forever on her order because they were putting her last because of her color. After the incident in Strawberry Cassie was being sarcastic about being Lillian Jean’s slave. Everyday Cassie would carry Lillian Jean’s books for her. One day Cassie led Lillian Jean into the woods, and dropped her books on the ground and fought Lillian Jean. Then at the end of the book, Mr. Simms’ sons framed TJ for stealing a gun and murdering the store owner even though it was them. We don’t what happens to TJ, but it sounds like he was hung.
