We all have challenges in our life, whether it is struggling with moving every couple months, or surviving through a storm. In some way, we all overcame it otherwise by not doing anything and staying strong, pushing through and doing everything you can, or fleeing and starting over. During the Great Depression, there was a tragic event that filled the sky with dust.The farmers had to go through a drought and dust storms. There was no water for the crops to grow and animals died. It was a hard time for them. In 1934, the Dust Bowl started. The storms made the air harder to breathe. The bright skies turned dark by the dust clouds. Many people packed up their things and left. In “ from The Grapes Of Wrath” it states, “ Maybe we can start in the new rich land-in California where the fruit grows. We’ll start over.”( pg.459). Many fled to California to find jobs and to leave the horrible storms, the others stayed; they covered their faces and waited ‘till the dust cleared. Panchito and his family are migrant workers. They have to move after every season is over to find work. They are not able to settle down and relax, they are always up and about. Roberto and Panchito also have to hide from the school bus, so they don't get in trouble for not attending school. He doesn't do anything about it. He stays quiet. “As we drove away, I felt a lump in my throat. I turned around and looked at our little shack for the last time.”(pg.471) asserted the author.
