Number Eight: Sir Richard Branson Was At the Sex Pistols Infamous Boat Party

In 1977, Virgin signed the Sex Pistols and released their one and only album, Nevermind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. When the Malcom McLaren and the label threw the Sex Pistols’ boat party during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee that same year, Branson was on the boat.

Number Seven: He Was the First Person to Cross the Atlantic by Hot Air Balloon

A known thrill-seeker, Sir Richard Branson has always been interested in air travel, in particular balloons. In 1987, after a few failed attempts, he became the first and only person to fly over the Atlantic Ocean in a hot air balloon. Not all of Branson’s ventures have succeeded. Virgin Brides was a chain of bridal wear shops. However, wedding gowns proved not to be a lucrative business for him and it closed down almost as soon as it started.
