Buettner teams up with National Geographic, and National Institute of Aging to find the Blue Zones he refers to. He expresses that a healthy lifestyle will initiate longevity. He emphasizes the importance of eating healthy, and gives examples of how a near perfect diet helps people to achieve longevity. He uses known Blue Zones to support his research in how people of these locations have found the balance to achieve a long lived life. In these places the people are the happiest and healthiest in the world. They have found balance in diet, exercise, and a lifestyle to …show more content…
Having friends and family to rely on makes life a little easier. Dan Buettner informs his audience about the northern islands of Okinawa, which he calls “Ground Zero for world longevity.” (Buettner, 2009) The people of Okinawa have a system that they’re born upon called “Moai”. In this system children are born with about six friends that they spend, and appreciate life with. With these people they have a social support group to share the troubles and the heights of life. In this community they use a system that keeps them with their small group of friends that they know like another version of themselves. They experience life with them, live with them, learn from them and they do that their entire lives. I would appreciate adopting this system in my life because I would be content with experiencing life with a few that I can trust with my life. I have a few people that I can trust with my life, and people that I experience the hardships and heights of life with. Finding that balance and never having to worry about relationships because everyone I could ever need is always there for me sounds like a dream. This selective
There are many different beliefs about the proper way to eat healthy. People are often mislead and live unhealthy lifestyles as a result. Both Mary Maxfield and Michael Pollan explain their own beliefs on what a healthy diet is and how to live a healthy lifestyle. In the essay, “Escape from the Western diet” Michael Pollan writes about the flaws of the western diet and how we can correct these problems to become healthier. In the essay, “Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eating”, Mary Maxfield criticizes Michael Pollan’s essay about eating healthy, and explains her own theory on how to be healthy. She believes that Pollan is contradicting himself and that what he is stating is false. Mary Maxfield ponders the

“Don’t depend too much on anyone in this world. Because even your shadow leaves you when you’re in darkness” (lbn Taymiyyah). The idea of this quote may seem ridiculous to some people that do not depend on anyone, because in this world, people have too many families and friends that we can rely on. However there are some situations that our friends and families cannot help up out. Like in the story “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane, tells a story about four men-a captain, a cook, an oiler, and a correspondent who float in an open boat over the sea. At first, these four men believed that they would be rescued by other people who live nearby the coast. However, gradually they found out that no one can help them but themselves.
There are a number of benefits to be found from thinking about ageing as a lifelong process and not just one that affects older people. This essay will define some of these benefits whilst backing up this reasoning with reference to the K118 material. It will then explain briefly which experiences I have had personally which have led me to responding to the question in this manner.
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consuming too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight.

People is always asking: “Why is important to have a balanced diet? Why is necessary to have a balanced diet on a daily basis? And why do professionals tend to recommend a balanced diet?” The human being has essential needs to its existence: breathing, feeding, and keeping the body in constant movement. The majority of the people are aware of this, but they do not have a balance among these things and even more important they do not eat the adequate food to keep their body healthy. Food is one of the most important factors because it gives the energy the body needs daily. In other words, few words food is the fuel that provides glucose, which is carried to each cell of the body through the bloodstream. This process is extremely important and this is influenced by the type of food that each person consumes. A balanced diet is important for human beings, and makes reference to a good nutrition with regard to the food they eat; which contains macro nutrients that are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins; these provide energy and basic materials that the body uses to grow and stay healthy.
In the book, In Defense of Food, Michael Pollan explores the relationship between nutrition and the Western diet, claiming that the answer to healthy eating is simply to “eat food”.

Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are good for you and what they do to help the body function.
First, I will address the root issue of many people’s eating habits, and then I will expand on why and how to develop a healthier lifestyle.
