For many years I have had the desire to return to college and pursue a degree. I hope to feel challenged and acquire the skills I will need to succeed in the future. I have experienced some setbacks that have pushed me to return. Pursuing this goal will strengthen my chances at a better career, will inspire my future family, and help me to fulfill the Lords calling on my life.
I have been at my current job as a bank teller for over four years now. I feel very blessed that I have a good job, however as I have searched for better opportunities it has been difficult not having a college degree. It is disappointing to find a more challenging position that I would want to apply for but can’t because I do not meet the education requirements. It also
Are you happy with your current position or would you like to go upper high?
However, I ended up getting hired at the Walmart distribution center, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Although we still have to live paycheck to paycheck, we can now manage to pay the bills and put food on the table without as much stress as before.
For this reason, I spent years at jobs that, although, they were not bad and I performed them well,
My first job was with a loan officer where I worked as support staffer which pretty much meant everything from translating and interpreting to taking out the trash. From there I worked for a bit at Target, in their little café/Starbucks, which was my lesson in life where I did not want to be. During this time I interviewed for an internship with then Senator Ensign, and was brought on the team as an intern. I graduated high school and knew I had to get out of fast food, and went to apply for retail. I landed a job in a luxury retail store, thanks to my multiple language skills and did great. I had the time of my life working with very important and high profile clients and being close to what I loved Fashion, but I knew this was not going to be my career. I quit for an opportunity I was offered with Nevada Youth Coalition helping out with voter registration, but had to go back to Mexico for a bit. Upon returning I attended the NCLR conference in which I ran into a person from my past Law School mentorship program HUELLAS, who happened to tell me they were looking for a file clerk. I applied and interviewed, and was hired that fall with DeCastroverde Law Firm. I worked there for about a year and a half and moved up to legal assistant, when the opportunity for this job came. I interviewed in the fall, but was not given the job. I decided to head back home, and the day I returned back to Las Vegas to start my spring semester I got a call for a second interview and the rest is history.
I never would have thought I would go back to school. Especially at my age. Not that age should be a factor in doing anything. I guess I did not have enough self-confidence in myself. It could have been the environment I grew up in. One reason I had decided to go back was to help others. Another reason I enrolled in college was to gain more knowledge. And the third reason I enrolled was to have a better future. But one day, I woke up and made a promise to myself that I would never be in an abusive relationship. Well life doesn’t always go the way we plan it to go.
I have returned to college after being out of school for several years because, I am motivated to obtain my associates degree. I want to finish what I started years ago. When I was in high school, I became discouraged with my studies due to an illness and ended up dropping out of school. A few years after that I had an opportunity to return to school and obtain an Associate’s degree. When I started the program I was doing well until my illness returned. I found myself having a hard time juggling my school work, my illness and a job. I eventually started failing classes and ended up giving up again. At this point I had once again, let life’s challenges win the battle. Looking back, I understand that I failed when I returned to school because I wasn’t mentally prepared nor was I mature enough to deal with issues as they happened. Looking back at it now I understand that I made a terrible error permitting fear to take

When I made the decision to return to college to complete a bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW) I looked at many universities. I needed a university that was going to work with me not against me with the challenges of my already crazy life. Three challenges that I know I will be presented with during my time in school will be time management, distractions and support.

Growing up I was always told that I had to attend college and be something great. So I guess in a sense I have to prove to myself and others that I can achieve this. When I graduate it will give me a piece of mind knowing that I did what I was destined to do. Graduating and receiving my degree will be one of my greatest accomplishments.
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the time restraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I have. Strangely enough, I?ve found the college English experience to be much more rewarding and enjoyable than in high school.
It’s been so long since we’ve last talked. I can’t believe we graduated more than seven months ago, it seriously feels like just yesterday! [Liking]: Are you still drawing and painting? I remember spending hours after school planning and sketching out the next pep rally themes with you. We were such perfectionists, what could have taken anyone else thirty minutes to draw, literally took us days, but it was always worth it in the end, seeing our visions come to life on the big backdrops never got old! I miss those days. We need to hangout again soon, it’s been too long since we’ve gotten the group together and I miss you guys like crazy. When you, me, Taylor, and Maddie got together there was seriously never a dull moment! Speaking of Taylor, I just ran into her last week, we ended up talking for hours about life and your name got brought up. She was telling me that you decided to take the semester off and you weren’t planning on returning to school. I know by now, it’s been awhile since you’ve seen a classroom, but with your intelligence and skill,
Soon enough I hated my great job! I made the decision an office was definitely not the vocation for me. It even got to the point where I would feel apprehensive about coming into work every day, because I knew I would be doing the exact same thing in the exact same place. Then I set out a goal in my life: I will not anguish myself with a job with which I am not happy. I believe this objective is important - if I am going to a workplace every day that I hate, then I need to find a way to find another occupation that interests me.
I really liked my job, I liked what I was doing, and the stress would’ve been managed had
