Elders are always highly respected in the Igbo culture, the reader might be able to whitness some kind of connection to this by seeing that or knowing about the Egwugwu. these are a group of masked men impersonating the tribes ancestors.This could definitely be considered attractive or appealing from the perspective of an outside culture. Okonkwo was well known throughout and beyond his nine villages and was highly respected, respect for the Igbo tribe is everything. Anything that the members of the Igbo tribe do can and will reflect how that individual is viewed/ respected. things that the reader might find in the Igbo culture to play in the role of respect would be how much respect the elders get from the tribe, or wrestling and Okonkwo, he is highly respected for his Wrestling abilities and the deaths he has caused in war.
Now we should take in consideration of the bad things, the abominations of the Igbo cultures, and this does not mean its bad literally its just saying that other culture will view these things as morally unacceptable. Some of the Igbo’s practices like the fact that they eat bugs might be considered an abomination to societies such as America, when they see bugs they feel disgusted by them and have no intentions on eating them, but when you look at the Igbo tribe you will find out that they see the locusts as a delicacy and eat them for a long period of time with many different meal styles. That to the American people would be seen as an abomination, seeing that Americans have a feeling of discrete towards locust they would be disgusted by the fact of people actually eating them for meals. Also coming to the consensus that there is no wrong ways of cultures, but that’s just how they live and enjoy life just as the reader does in their own culture. Now knowing there is no wrong to cultures one should assume all the perspectives and see that the things they once seen as abominations are only things of interest to that society and that society will fill the same about his or her culture, about their interest, things such as sports, war ( don’t know about a interest but this is still something they will find abominable), food, cloths, religion. Those are all aspects that most will find the thoughts of abominations. So the reader should take in consideration of these perspectives to see, and ponder on the question, What really is an Abomination?
