There are many greek gods, twelve to be exact, but each one of them are different from the rest. This one god though, is very different from them all. Hades is the greek god of the underworld. He was assigned the underworld when him and his brothers, Poseidon and Zeus, drew which place to rule after they defeated their father. In this essay you’ll get to learn more about this god and his life.

Hades was the oldest of three brothers. Him and his brothers are children of the titan Cronus and Rhea. Cronus was known for eating his children but Rhea hid some of them so that they wouldn’t get eaten. Those were Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. Once all of them were old enough, they attacked their father and killed him, overthrowing him. Once their father was done they decided to split the universe between each other. All three of them drew sticks that assigned their part of the world. Zeus took over the skies, Poseidon got the sea, and Hades was left with the underworld. This jealousy quickly grew into hate and continued to grow over time. Not much of Hades personality is known before he overthrew his father with his brothers but most say that Hades developed a rather morbid personality which was quickly not much liked by the other gods and people of earth, especially since Hades seemed to enjoy being feared. His morbid personality began to grow once Hades realized that there weren’t any temples or memorials built for him on earth.
