Football. A game comprised of brute strength and undeniable commodity displayed over the span of four grueling quarters. For many southern states, this game was a way of life, and the state of Virginia was no exception. In 1971, the school board of the small town of Alexandria integrated the school system meaning that the black and white community were blended at T.C. Williams High School. Each community felt threatened and anxious, so protests and outbreaks occurred within the streets alongside storefronts. Possibly the only common ground between the community was their love for the game of football. In this day and age, majority of the South was blinded by their racism and short sidedness. If I were a character in this film, I would hope to be similar to that of Ronnie 'Sunshine' Bass. Bass joined the team with open arms to all of its players regardless of class, race, or culture; he treated them on their personality and contributions to the team and community. I believe that all individuals deserve the chance to be accepted based on who they are and what they put forth, not preconceived notions and stigmas of who they are. One bias that my character would most likely contain is that of narcissism; I tend to be egotistical and always strive to be the best. My character would have to work on being a team player rather than fighting for my own. A prejudice that my character may encounter is not affiliating a set of skills with a one group, rather base each individual off their performance. Similar to that of Bass, I would want to impact the story by welcoming the African Americans, being a team player, and to stand up for those in harm's way, whether it be verbal or physical
