As I walk thru the doors of Floyd Medical Center, I look back at all I've accomplished. How far I have come from that shy girl in high school to an outgoing and friendly registered nurse. Walking down the hallway to my boss’ office, I feel a sense of relief. I'm finally finished with college and on to the start this new chapter of my life. Becoming a neonatal nurse has taken a long time but I know in the end it will all be worth it.
It is a place filled with babies but the robust cries normally present in a nursery are muffled by the sounds of alarms, monitors, and concerned parents. A world in itself completely focused on saving lives. My dream is to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse because I desire to provide critical care and communication skills, along with emotional understanding and stability to the tiniest humans, and their parents.
Gaining advanced nursing education is my goal. I don’t even remember when I decided to be a nurse because I used to say I wanted to be a nurse when one of my teachers asked me in grade 2. When I was in grade 4, we had to study about Florence Nightingale and I came to know how she helped people during crisis situations. She is still alive in us even after her death. I also want to do something so people will remember me after my death.
My academic goal is to graduate in the Top 10% of my class. I have gained knowledge of the nursing profession through classroom training activities, local medical facility visits, inspirational speakers and mentor presentations. It has motivated me to continue my education. It has also helped me realize that taking care of the needs of others is important; the way in which I can do this is by becoming a nurse. Life has no meaning without goals. In order to succeed setting goal is very important. Without setting goals there would be nothing to look forward to, or even have anything to achieve. Goals are a vital aspect of our lives. It gives a sense of self-confidence. I believe without goals life would just be a plain and no excitement at all. Long-term and short-term goals are intertwined and work similarly to build a house from ground up. I vision myself become a radiologist within the next three to five years. This is my present long-term goal. To achieve my long term goal I have two short term goals, first to get good grades in prerequisites courses and second to complete my grad school program with "A" grade minimum, because graduating with good grades is the stepping stone for my long-term goal.

As previously mentioned, becoming a nurse has always been a goal of mine. Throughout high school, I got the opportunity to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do in the medical field by taking nursing classes and participating in clinical rotations. I received my CNA license at the end of the course and through learning many beneficial life skills and nursing techniques, I realized during that time I wanted to go beyond CNA work, and that the nursing field was where God was leading me. Everyone defines success differently. To some people, success could be the simplest task being completed, or a major life goal being achieved. To me however, success is when I reach the goal I or others have set before me. Anything that involves my future career or potential in the medical field drives me to meet nothing but

After graduating high school, I hope to continue on to college and obtain an Associate's Degree in Biology, and then attend nursing school to receive a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Career wise, I would like to begin as a registered nurse. However, ultimately I hope to obtain a Master’s of Science in Nursing and have the possibility to become a nurse practitioner. While these dreams are ambitious, I truly believe that I am prepared to accomplish my goals because of my life experiences.

Although I have many goals in life, two stick out to me the most. They stick out in every decision I make and they help me form good decisions. What I want most importantly in life is to become a pharmacist and to create a family with someone I love. I want the family most importantly because I was raised in a very tight Greek family. I want to raise my kids in that tight Greek family as well. Becoming a pharmacist is also a very important goal because I want stability in my job so that I can raise my family without major money issues. I also think it is very important for people to be healthy so that job would allow me to provide health care.
