Studying for a nursing degree is one thing, but actually working at a hospital being a RN (registered nurse) is a completely different aspect of being a nurse. The odd exhausting hours, and necessary day to day skills needed to help patients can be very overwhelming. But, nursing is such an outstanding career overall. The quick decision making, high-pressure situations, and the skills and education that must be learned to accomplish this degree is an amazing opportunity to have; especially with the great outlook of nursing and the well-paid salary. While working at any establishments confidentiality is a must and especially a nurse must treat a person’s info with respect (Simmons 87). But sadly, many places even hospitals do not take confidentiality seriously and that is why many of the patients feel as if they cannot open to their doctors or nurses. Although the medical board does say that without proper care of a patients info the RNs license may even get revoked (Simmons 78). The hourly salary of a RN can be from $30 to $32.50 depending on experience (Simmons 88). Not including the area, state, and hospital pay wages that differentiate from place to place. RNs are a great necessity for the medical field and will only increase pay as the years go on due to supply and demand (Simmons 89). This only seems fair because nurses do work odd hours and even 100 hour shifts. The monthly pay for a RN is about $5,660 compared to the national rate found m studies taken (Mallegg). $5,660 is a great pay when one is supporting one’s self even maybe a child. Every states monthly salary is different because of the state’s population and amount of hospitals. The annual salary of a registered nurse then comes out to be around $67,930 before tax deduction (Mallegg). The demand for nurses is only increasing which can mean this annual pay can rise at a much higher rate in the near future.
