During this semester, I have attempted to adjust to the courses requirements, expectations, and goals. I am still apprehensive with my writing style and feel that at times I could be missing the entire goal of the topic and what is asked of me in an assignment. At times, I over think a certain assignment and underestimate my abilities. By reflecting on my four previous essay assignments for this class, I have improved over the course in certain areas with my free writing techniques. I would need to tackle major challenges, such as sentence structure and support a stronger thesis statement to guide my body of essays. In my first orientation essay I had stated, “I hope to gain a better understanding of how to revise my work, would be able to write freely and to succeed in becoming a more natural writer.” Freewriting has constructed my writing easier by pulling out all my ideas, thoughts and then I am able to go back to organize, revise and try to conform my essay. I have strengthened, improved my writing with new techniques, learning about purpose, and finding new ways of combating writers block with free writing. I was so confident that I did a really good job and applied myself because I was talking about something I loved, my major in the medical assisting program. I made the mistake of overlooking to meet the goals of the assignment, therefore failed to complete the assignment correctly.
