Reflection Of My Inquiry Project In The Classroom

I selected my inquiry project because my mentor thought that it would be both interesting and one that would show relevant data. My mentor utilizes the method of lectures and then videos to enrich the learners, so this data would also help his teaching. I can certainly see myself utilizing this same strategy, as I see value in lecturing and then playing a video, as that will then enrich the learners understanding of the material. I implemented my inquiry project by using two class periods to do this experiment. For the first day, after a lecture on the material, I gave the learners a quiz and analyzed how well they did. The second day, I utilized a video and allowed the learners to analyze it. Directly following the video, I gave the learners a quiz on that material from the video. Both of these quizzes were npt graded. These quizzes were only four questions apiece and the questions For each of the student’s parent’s, I gave them a brief overview of where we were in the class and how their son or daughter is doing. For some students, they were failing, so I was told to say what I have done for those students and what I can continue to do. For the rest of the students, I was not required to write anything, but I did so anyways, as I wanted to make a personal connection to the students. One example of feedback that I gave the parents was, “your daughter is an ambitious learner that has great critical thinking abilities.” I tried to use their names in each comment and I then tried to say a positive comment about how well they did in either a project or some other assessment.
