Radiologists Technologists are the personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocol, radiation safety, radiation protection, and basic patient care. Radiologic technologists are the health care professionals who also perform X-ray examinations, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and computed tomography (CT) scans. Radiology technicians procedure clear and accurate images of the body that enable physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions that would otherwise be difficult to document. They also play a pivotal role in assuaging the anxieties of patients who may be concerned about the procedure or their condition.

The Ultrasound was first invented in the early 1900’s and was surprisingly not used to produce photos of a fetus. In 1917 Paul Langen a marine life scientist used a form of ultrasound equipment in his attempt to detect submarines. After many failed attempts at using high frequency sound waves Dr. Ian Donald and his team in Glasgow, Scotland invented the first ultrasound machine in 1957. Dr. Donald even tested his machine on patients within a year of completing the invention, by the late 1950’s ultrasounds became routine in Glasgow hospitals.

After spending a vast amount of time on research and going to internship at the hospital, I have come to realize that my passion in science has greatly intensified. Furthermore, both experiences helped to shape up my future goals more prominently than before, which is coupled with the fact that I have now established a profound interest in radiology, or rather nuclear medicine.
