Pursuing My Education Scholarship Essay

In order to answer the question of how this scholarship will make a difference in pursuing my education, I must explain why my education matters to me. Looking at background around allows me to see how getting my education and maintaining a hard work ethic is vital to my character. These values were passed onto me by my parents who helped me get this far in my life and will give me the energy for my future endeavors. By leaving from their home in India to the United States when I was one year old my parents sought to give their children, my two older sisters and I, opportunities that were quintessential to the character of the United States. Much like a lot of immigrants who follow this commonplace voyage we did not have a lot of money at the start of our experience in this new country. My parents always stressed to my sisters and me that education was a way of proving to yourself that you can have a passion for something that you want to invest in the future. I adopted these views from them and further supplemented them with my own reasoning. An education shows that you are dedicated to a craft, and expertise, or any other skill. This means that you have the strength to put in the work every day to get to these goals whilst remembering that emphasis should be put on the process rather than thinking about the goals themselves. Similarly, this is the same way I viewed my parent’s hard work and dedication into bringing their family out of poverty and to gain capital.
