The world is full of traffic, cars, trams, bicyclers, pedestrians and buses and a lot of people are using these transportations - everyday. Because of this, events happens. One might feel comfortable to travel with several people but another person can feel exposed. Safety issues may arise naturally because of the amount of people in traffic, maintenance problems and a perceived discomfort due to, for example, badly lit public spaces. So what makes us feel unsafe in traffic, what are the dangers in traffic and what can be done for a better infrastructure and traffic situations?

Here it is important with city planning that builds a sustainable character and structure plan for an area, in this case, around public transportations. If the city planning is used right it can avoid places that makes people feel at unease. To do such things as moving a parking lot or not planning a park that creates a barrier is more important than one might think. Doing actions such as these the city itself becomes an attractive place to be in, no matter what time of the clock. The participants liked cars better in a way of transportation because of it almost non existing risk of disturbing passengers, violence and threats - compared to public transportations. The risk of an accident when driving a car was nevertheless perceived bigger than with public transportations. That perceived risk is also in well agreement with a study by Alm and Lindberg (2000).
