Discussion: HPV Vaccinations
It is evident that the ramifications of sexually transmitted disease have a devastating outcome. That said, it is my opinion that it should be a matter of choice. I do not feel the government should have the right to mandate what citizens should have injected into their bodies. We do live in a free society, therefore, I think it would be more advantageous to educate young people male or female in a descriptive way the consequences of a liberal sex life.
(Takada 2011) “Most medical professionals agree that the vaccine’s potential lifesaving benefits can’t be ignored, but the political vote is split on mandatory vaccination” At this point mandatory vaccination is a very controversial subject on both sides of the political aisle. Governor Perry of Texas tried mandating the vaccine in 2007 by executive order, which eventually was overturned in 2008. He later admitted it was a mistake to have ordered it, according to Everyday Health Magazine. …show more content…

In order to be affective the doses of the vaccine should be administered well before the age of sexual encounters, around the ages of 11 to 13. This also is feared to cause sex at too young an age. The other drawback of the vaccine is that is very costly. The cost is sometimes covered by insurance however.
In conclusion, it should be the recommendation of health professionals to suggest but not to demand the vaccine. (276) Source:
