Recommended: Challenges of leadership and teamwork

As a Product Demonstration Team Lead for Crossmark, my duties included supervising 3-4 other Product Demonstrators assigned to the Walmart store located off Rt. 50 in Winchester, VA. I would coordinate with the management of this location, each day, to reach agreement on where each Demonstrator would best be placed for their different demonstrations.
It was a Saturday when I was on my way to work and received a call from my Manager at Crossmark. She stated that there was no Team Lead assigned at the new Walmart location in Stephens City, VA. She then requested I change my route to meet the management of this new location and ensure the grand opening demonstration was a success. The importance of this demonstration was expressed as greater than the one I was originally assigned, so I altered my route to head towards the Stephens City Walmart. …show more content…

Inside this box, would be marketing materials, napkins, condiments and sometimes the actual product being sampled that day. These boxes were required to be used during a demonstration. This created tension in the work environment as these departments acted independently and uninterested in the other departments. This structure in general contributed to poor communication, lack of priority for employee development and employee dissatisfaction which in turn lead to poor performance in the chain.
