The People’s Princess The afternoon of August 31, 1997 was filled with chaos and sorrow. As soon as the news of Princess Diana’s death spread, the world was stunned. Most people believed exactly what they were told, her death was an accident. However, that is not the case. When Princess Diana stepped into her car on the night of August 30, she had no idea it would only be a few hours until she died. The events that took place that horrible night were planned, and Diana suffered a great amount. Princess Diana’s death was not an accident, and was planned out by the Royal Family. There was bad blood between Diana and the Royal Family ever since the Princess had divorced from Prince Charles. Diana and Charles admitted to having affairs with other people, and their marriage was quickly ended. Around the time of the crash, Diana was rumored to be pregnant with Dodi’s child, and the Royal Family was not very accepting of the idea (CITE). The tragic death of Princess Diana took place more than twenty years ago, but the “People’s Princess” is not soon forgotten. On what would have been Diana’s fifty sixth birthday, William and Harry held a rededication service at her grave. A memorial garden was created in her honor, which displayed some of her favorite flowers. On the twentieth anniversary of her death, the palace planned a variety of activities to honor Diana. Her sons created an exhibit to show off some of her personal belongings, and another exhibit titled, “Diana: Her Fashion Story” gave people a unique look at the Princess’s style and wardrobe. Even though Diana has been gone for two decades, her family often wonders how different life would be if she were still her. Prince William explained that he often speaks to his children about their grandma, even though they never met her. The Prince proudly displays pictures of his mother to keep her memory alive in his family (Durand & Kindelan, 2017). Each year, people around the world come together to honor the life of
