In the past two years, Egypt has experienced enormous protests in which millions of Egyptians went of rebelling against the authoritarian rule who has suppressed them for years. For the first time Egyptian citizens decide to take a stand and fight for their legitimate rights in being able to find proper food, to gain freedom and equality. Moreover, this event mainly took place on the 25th of January, 2011; the dictatorship regime that has been ruling for thirty years fell to the ground. We can deduce from the event that this revolution mostly occurred due to the oppression, poverty, social equality, censorship and the aim of democratizing the country (O'Neill). However, one of the most important factors I do believe for the January 25th revolution is the crucial poverty that made normal citizens not able to satisfy their own basic needs; so they did find any way out of their problems except by revolting on this totalitarianism regime.

Without a doubt, proper education is the most essential factor to tackle poverty. Tribal government should put more attention to it; building schools, funds for books and proper training of teachers would be a good start. Everyone has the right to education most importantly, the children; an educated child will pass their education to their future. Education can transform lives, and it can also break the cycle of poverty because it is the most important element for progression of a nation.

Brazil’s distribution of income is one of the most unequal and like many other countries, serves the interest of the rich. The richest 10 percent possess 50 percent of the income. Men earn 29.2 percent more than woman in the same employment field. Black Brazilian women receive 40 percent lower salaries than white woman and the black population is more likely to be poor overall (Blaney, 2004). Between 1960 and 1990, the share of national income of the poorest half of the population fell from 18 percent to 12percent, and the richest 20 percent increased from 54 percent to 65percent. The nine states in the Northeast have the lowest socioeconomic indicators in the country (PAHO, 1999). Adequate housing, water sanitation, education and daycare centers for women are some of the areas affected by the Brazil’s social inequality.
There are countless causes of poverty in under developed countries such as overpopulation, disease, and how the government distributes its wealth. When you have people in developing countries have far too many children than they should and don’t have the means to take care of them you get overpopulation, when you get overpopulation you get less job opportunities, and when that happens you people who can’t take care of themselves or their children. Two factors have been shown that correlate with overpopulation which is poverty and education. When you have higher education in a community you will tend to have a decrease in birth because when people get education especially in women you will have a decline in birthrates because when they get their education they usually want to get a good job. (Poverty and overpopulation).

Poverty is not having the money to meet a human’s basic needs. It’s the lack of shelter and education. It’s having poor health because you don’t have the money or transportation to access a doctor. It’s parents not being able to send their kids to birthday parties, or on school field trips (WhatisPoverty.com). There are two horrible types of poverty. The first type is absolute poverty. This type is extremely life threatening. It is when a person does not have the necessities to survive like food, water, shelter, and sometimes even clothing. Undeveloped countries in Africa, and Asia have a high percentage of this kind of poverty. These people often get less than $1.25 a day. The second type is relative poverty. This is when a single person or a whole family doesn’t have as many resources or as much money as the people around them. It is comparing where you live, how much money you have, etc. to the other people in your society. Poverty is not always obvious, you don’t have to be homeless to be in poverty (Lusted 8-10).
As one of the biggest problems facing the world today, poverty continues to have significant negative implications for the society. The effects of poverty are extremely severe and far-reaching, so much so that it was one of the top Millennium Development Goals agreed upon at the Millennium Summit of the UN back in 2000 (Hatcher, 2016). To understand the effects that poverty has on the society, one must critically analyze the societies in which poverty is rampant, as well as analyze poverty from the relative perspectives that it presents. The core aim of this paper is to develop a holistic understanding of poverty and elaborate on the diverse ways in which it continues to affect societies across the world.
Poverty is an issue which the world faces everyday. It is a constant struggle that cannot be ignored anymore. As you can see defeating poverty would take great efforts and contributions from all.
