One example of being on time in my life is being on time for work. On Thursdays I have to be at work at 3 o’clock in order to allow the other secretary to go home, therefore it is extremely important for me to be on time. My strategies for being on time for work are leaving 10 minutes before I have to be at work, having my outfit laid out the night before, having all of my things I need to work on at work already in my bag, and having a snack already made.
Being busy helps build a well rounded individual. I go to school 5 days a week, I work Thursday through Saturday, go to church on Sunday, in addition to maintaining an A average in school, and belonging to multiple clubs and organizations within the school. My strategies for staying busy

One positive learning experience I have been apart of was when one of my good friends spent an entire class period helping me figure out a single math problem. By the end of the class period I finally understood the problem which helped me on the final exam tremendously. In addition to learning how the equation worked, I also learned how great of a friend I had in my life who would take an entire class to help me with a single concept. I recently had to do the same thing for one of my other friends because she only showed up to our psychology class once this past week. It was a positive learning experience for the both of us, me gaining experience practicing my teaching strategies and for her, gaining knowledge on what we had …show more content…
This coming Wednesday I have a meeting after school, have to fill in for the other secretary at work, have to teach a bible lesson for the children’s ministry at my church, have to study for a psychology test, and make the agenda for the following day’s NHS meeting . This has been a negative learning experience for me, seeing that I have taken way too much onto my plate for this particular day. I could have handled the entire situation differently by cancelling my meeting after school and declining the request to fill in for my coworker. I learned that it’s ok not to say yes to everybody when they ask for my help if it is too much for me to take
...able units using periods of available time. Focus on the task at hand by mentally establishing successful outcomes and working back to identify the steps that lead there. Make a daily, prioritized schedule of tasks and events. Write things down for memory’s sake and to keep a clutter free mind. Time management is a skill that needs to be practiced, and once perfected, it will make light of any busy schedule for any busy person.
Students learn if they can work in large groups or if they work better individually. They also learn what kind of learner they are when it comes to taking in information given to them by the teacher. Not every student is the same, and they learn that is it okay to be different and to be proud of the person they are. Students learn how to deal with conflicts and resolve the matter in a calm fashion.
On any given day, my time regardless of how planned it is by making lists can be thrown off track due to usually a sick child/pet. No matter how hard I try, I know my kids will get sick and they will expect me to take care of. Since I cannot usually control when that will happen, it’s important that I take advantage of what I can control, such looking ahead at assignments that will need my attention to plan adequate time to complete assignments a head of time, instead of waiting till the last minute. When I know what to expect I can make plans. Another
I’ve made it my passion to be a life-long learner to sharpen my skills, abilities and God-given talent. When an individual doesn’t make a conscience effort to expand their minds, then they are actually making a decision to begin to digress. Being an older college student, my desire is to learn everything that I possibly can with the aid of Victory University. It was fascinating reading about Rene’ Descartes who grew up in France. Descartes was also a life-long learner. He was the thinker and writer who coined the phrase, “I think, therefore I am” (Gluck, Mercado, & Myers, 2014, p. 7). Although Descartes existed during the time of the Renaissance, his theory that the eyes were significant to stimulating other parts of the body, such as the fingers, arms and legs was brilliant. It is now understood that this” process begins with the stimulus, a sensory event from the outside world entering” through the eyes (Gluck et al., 2014, p. 7).
In order to be an effective teacher there needs to be an understanding that we all learn differently, this means that no single teaching strategy is effective for all students/learners all the time. This makes teaching a complex process because you need to understand and meet the requirements of all of your learners. Students learn best when they aren’t asked to simply memorise information but when they form their own understandings of what is being taught. When a student has successfully learnt a new idea they are able to then intergrate this information with their previously learnt information and make sense of it. To be an effective teacher you need to work jointly with students to asses where they are at, be able to give feedback on how the student is going and ensure that they are understanding the lesson (Killen, 2013) According to Lovat and Smith (2003) students learning must result in a change in a student’s understanding of the information being taught. In order to show understanding they must be able to share this information with others and want to learn more (Killen, 2013). In order to have a deeper understanding of what is being taught they need to be aware of the relationship that exists between what they knew previously and the new information that is being learned (Killen, 2013).. Students need to be given goals that they can achieve in order to feel a sense of mastery over their own learning, this gives students motivation that they are able to complete tasks and to keep going.
Research shows that the learning environment encompasses more than just the classroom that learning and teaching takes place. Many factors contribute to a learning environment, including the students, teachers, parents, school staff, policy makers, specialists, support staff, community members and the different learning spaces and resources available. This reflective journal will discuss some ways that teachers can set up the learning environment to maximise teaching and learning and some potential advantages and difficulties for me as a new teacher.
What has been the most fulfilling or rewarding experience you have had as a college student? If applicable, how did the Honors College facilitate or enhance that experience? *
Looking at my own approach to time management I have noticed that I am well organised and good at prioritising tasks and jobs. When I log onto my computer to start my shift I am sent down numerous jobs, each job is different and has different deadlines for attendance and completion. I plan my day based around the date and time deadlines of the jobs and also the locations of the jobs. I then schedule the most effective order of completing the jobs, putting high priority jobs at the top of my list and grouping sites that are geographically close to each other. By effectively planning my day I keep a focused attitude towards my work and I have time to think about tasks and situations, rather tha...

The introduction of policies and legislations in regards to inclusion within the classroom demands teachers to reassess their learning environments in order to cater to the diverse range of students within our classrooms. As a teacher it is our responsibility to set up our learning environment to maximise student learning and teaching providing varying strategies to cater to our students’ differences.
According to Time Management Strategies (n.d.), there are three steps for staying on-task and on-time. They are setting goals, prioritization, and planning. A person should set goals that are SMART goals. SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely (Time Management Strategies, n.d.). I use all of these steps to help me stay on-task and on-time. I write everything I need to do the day into my planner and refer back to it when I get done with a task to see what I should be doing next.
Humans are so different when learning that there are not enough names to describes all the ways of learning that exist, as each person has a different one. Learning is a process in which we get to know things about a subject that we do not have much knowledge about and we try to understand the concepts behind it. Each one of us has specific needs, factors or strategies that influence this process and helps it to be as productive as it can be. Personally I think that we all, by the time we get into college, know our specific needs, factors and strategies in which we tend to study and learn in a more productive way. In terms of needs I tend to prefer studying with someone as this helps me to share ideas and also be an auditory learner. The factors that are
Special Education is becoming more of a concern with each passing day. There are more and more problems with teaching children with special needs as well as there are problems with diagnosing them. In the first half of the 20th century it started to become increasingly popular in the United States. (Ferguson 148). It is a tedious and time consuming task but it can be very rewarding to see the child progress of time and advance their learning skills.
Time management skills have a good deal of things behind it, such as timeliness in showing up to commitments (such as work and school), timeliness in following through with commitments (such as turning school assignments in), making sure you do things in a timely manner (avoiding procrastination), and prioritizing tasks. These all
