There are only a few good things that come from taking steroids or “juicing”. The positive effects of steroids include, increased muscle mass, tissue repair, endurance and fat loss. Used in small amounts, steroids may also have certain health benefits and can be used to prevent swelling of organs such as the kidneys as well as muscle wasting diseases such as muscular dystrophy. The negative effects of steroids are acne, oily skin/scalp, skin turning kind of a yellow color, balding, tendon ruptures, an enlarged heart and developing a big risk of liver disease/cancer.
Steroids are typically used to build muscle and make you feel great...temporarily, but aren’t that good for you in the long run. When you take steroids for a long period of time, it can lead to anger/aggression, paranoia, delusions and heart attacks. They are typically abused by many athletes. A report from CNN states that the number of athletes that “dope” have dropped dramatically in the past 40 years. Huge franchises like the NFL, MLB, and the International Olympic Committee noticed the performance changes in the athletes. To keep other players safe and maintain a fair game, they started drug testing them and sure enough, their assumptions were right. …show more content…
