There’s precisely a dozen Greek gods and multiple demi gods in Greek mythology, there’s Poseidon the god of the sea and ruler of it then there’s hades the god and ruler of the underworld. Then there’s the ruler of all gods and mortals alike the Greek god of sky Zeus the king of the gods. Zeus was considered the first god and is a huge figure in Greece, but why. Why was he such a big deal to the people of ancient Greece to have them make monuments, statues and entire buildings made after him? It all has to do with his origin story, background and connection with every other god.Zeus was born from two of the twelve titans, Rhea and the ruler of the titans Cronus. According to this article “Cronus was a notorious for being a very jealous and greedy
Zeus rounded up his two brothers, hades and Poseidon together they freed their siblings from Cronus and defeated both him and all the other titans. According to this article “he drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and hades to decide how would rule the father's throne” (https://www.greekmythology.com/Olympians/Zeus/zeus.html by Publisher Michael Kara’s :: Authors Michael Kara’s & Charolais Megas). It also worth mentioning that “in the Olympian pantheon Zeus had 23 consorts; the leading wife being Hera (who was also his sister) and 04 being of unknown name” (www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question134706.html ) so you can bet Hera wasn’t happy with him at those times. It also states in the same article that “this group provided 58 offspring” and it wasn’t uncommon for to try and stage some “accidents” for the children her husband created.
