The Political Correctness (PC) which seems to control our every movement, our thought and public expression dropped us in a world of liberalism which serves as a safe haven for ignorance people; people that seem so closed minded, enjoying the creation of fuss and instigating the matter to make it worse. Political correctness may be a coined term that the general population does not necessarily know the definition of, but is relevant in every single person’s life. In today’s society one must be very careful when verbalizing opinions in order to prevent offending others around, or from disturbing the Politically Correct Puritans: those who strongly support censorship of politically incorrect labels (Suedfeld et al 1994). There are many different theories as to what makes political correctness important and why college campuses seem to be so heavily surrounded by political correcting activists, but oddly enough there has not been an extensive amount of research done on the topic.

The era following WWII and the era we are currently in portray times in United State's history that united our country in some ways, but in other ways were times of constrained freedom and illustrated the limitations of our country. McCarthyism, the period in the early to mid 1950's, was a time that arose from once good relations with the Soviet Union to a time where there was fear of communism within our country. Terrorism, a term that has been around, but now brings new meaning. Some people say that political correctness should not be an issue and that it may have run amok. I understand that our First Amendment states our right to speak freely, but there are definitely certain situations where it matters what people say. My belief is that when you have any political following or any influence on a population you should be careful with the words you say. Average Americans who do not have any influence on the mass populous should not be hindered from completing their jobs. Political correctness is one of the largest problems we have in America today and we are not taking it seriously enough.
If our clients hear about this incident, they will not feel our real company culture. In 21st century society, it’s common for people to publicly identify with certain groups that they relate to. Of these, the most common are political groups such as, Republicans and democrats, and needless to say they each have varying views. These groups even have sub cultures that don’t necessarily agree with the former party's platform. Everyone can relate to a time when they’ve either said, or been around someone when they’ve said something that isn’t P.C, or what we define as “Politically correct”. To be politically correct is to Avoid all forms of expressions and actions that exclusively exclude, or target those who are socially disadvantaged.”. Racism and prejudice has been present in almost every civilization and society throughout history. Even though the world has progressed greatly in the last couple of decades, both socially and technologically, racism, hatred and prejudice still exists today, deeply embedded in old-fashioned, narrow-minded traditions and values.
In life, we are often confronted with boundaries created by society and ourselves. In our limited understanding of what those boundaries represent, we find ourselves confined by our ego. Racism and prejudices have plagued society for many years, and many of us have been judged and condemned for expressing our true selves. How long must it take for us all to be accepted as beautiful beings, all perfectly capable of greatness and joy?
As in anything in life, there are positive and negative terms that can be detrimental in how a person does and says something and may be offensive to another person. In Diversity a positive term that we should strive to do to contain order would be, Equity, which means to treat everyone equally no matter their culture or race. Equity is very important since it’s the bases of Diversity and should be acknowledged a little more often. Without Equity, there would be no structure in Diversity for anything else, and no admiration between one another. A Negative term for diversity would be Discrimination. Discrimination is the unequal treatment of someone based on their culture or ethnicity. Discriminating someone who might be different than you is very wrong. A person has no need to put down someone just because they might not be the same religion or believe in the same thing as you. We should try to totally eradicate negative terms in order to maintain a culture of diversity and inclusion.
