“In the 70s they blamed Dobermans, in the 80s they blamed German Shepherds, in the 90s they blamed the Rottweiler, now they blame the Pitbull, but when will they blame the humans?”. As Cesar Millan explained in the quote above, today people like to judge groups on the fault of one individual, an example of this is how people look at pit bulls. The way people are seeing these dogs are costing the lives of many pit bulls because states are banning them as household pets. I believe that the bans on pit bulls should be lifted because,the pitbull ban does not solve dog attacks, pit bulls are not naturally born to be aggressive, and pitbulls can be rehabilitated to be the friendliest dogs.
People think that putting these bans on pit bulls will solve dog attacks, but they are wrong. Attorney David Lane stated “ You can teach any non-pitbull dog to rip someone's throat out.”. In April 2007 Michael Vick was arrested for his large dog fighting scandal. Forty -seven out of fifty-one pit bulls from the Michael Vick's Bad Newz kennels were rehabilitated and got forever homes. (Gorant). These dogs were starved, beaten and forced to fight. Dogs from the Michael Vick case, like Meryl, came out of the ring with a history of lashing out at people, but with work the trainers were able to get her to trust them and she can now deal with strangers when someone she trusts os with her. Another example of a Vick dog is Lucas. He was on of the champion fighters but once being treated for an illness he was “Confident and friendly around people”(Gorant).
