Phimosis, Pediatric

Phimosis is a tightening of the fold of skin that stretches over the tip of the penis (foreskin). The foreskin may be so tight that it cannot be easily pulled back over the head of the penis.
CAUSES

This condition may be caused by:

Infection.

An injury to the penis.

Poor cleaning of the foreskin.

RISK FACTORS

This condition is more likely to develop in uncircumcised boys younger than 4 years old.
DIAGNOSIS

This condition is diagnosed with a physical exam.
TREATMENT

Usually treatment is not needed for this condition. It improves on its own with time. If treatment is needed, it may involve:
