Pharmacists are health care professionals that interact with patients on a daily basis by discussing their illness. Pharmacy is right for me because I love the ‘ community’ aspect of it being able to improve the lives of peoples, through offering sound medical advice around drugs that could improve the quality of life. Studying chemistry, biology and Maths throughout my A Levels has made me eager to continue studying a subject that expands my scientific knowleges and tests my logic and problem solving skills. In chemistry i have particularly enjoyed experiments which require complete accuracy and the ability to analyse and evaluate, for example making aspirin. I have learnt the importance of being thorough and meticulous as in the preparation of experiments as one small error can mess up the results. My recordings of experiments results are accurate and neat and I present my results in an organised and precise manner. This skill I hope to bring with me to the lab work on the course. My love of science led me to volunteer with the science experiment program for Yr7’s and 8’s. I helped teach younger students about experiments and the underlying scientific theory. Being in charge of 30 students and heighten my understanding of being safe in and around the lab. I am a person who gets involved in all aspects of school life. I was a assistant to the school council where I work alongside year 10 supporting them through issues relating to attendance. . Part of this role involved calling parents. It was important for me to remain confident and professional when dealing with parents so that they could take me seriously and respect my opinion.
