The Pet Deduction: Which one is right for you?
So you want to get a pet huh? I bet you think it’s simple, go to a website or shelter and find the dog/cat/other that you want adopt/buy and then be on your way. It normally is that simple but do you really just want any pet, even if it doesn’t fit your lifestyle or caring capabilities? If you want to know how to figure out which pet is best for you then this article is best for you. You first start out with the easy part by deciding what kind of animal you like, whether it be from a dog to pig. Then with your options in mind start thinking about your home is it small or large, apartment or house, in the country or the city. Who do you live with? Are they allergic to cats or dogs? What I mean
(Ex: Active, couch potato, occasional workout, travel a lot, always at home, usually gone, etc.)
Still don’t know what you want to get/just want some simple suggestions? If you are a lazy person and don’t want to have to do much work some pets you would want are bunnies, rats, cats (depending on the breed), lizards (fat tailed geckos are the easiest, they don’t even need a UV light), ferrets (believe it or not they don’t need as much care and attention as one might assume), Guinea pigs, and turtles (small would be best, again depends on the breed) just to name a few.
On the other hand if you don’t really mind work to care for a pet, pets like cats, birds, snakes, dogs, chickens, pigs would be good for you. If you happen to be very active a dog would be your best bet but not any dog will do. Golden retrievers are very good family dogs and are very active they are a safe choice however they do have a lot of hair. There are other breeds that are small that can be very active but I won’t rattle on. Choosing a pet is serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly, if you are the kind of person that doesn’t want to take care of a pet but wants a companion I wouldn’t suggest getting one, wait until your ready to commit to your pet and it’s needs. People think that just because you want a pet you should just go out and get whatever pet you want and figure things out later, but that’s how you make you and your pet unhappy. This can also cause your things to be ruined,
My favorite dog that I researched was the boxer because it is a really nice dog to have as a guard dog and it doesn’t shed that much. The only thing I didn't like about the boxer was that they have a lot of health problems. The kind of dog I have now is a German Shepherd mixed with labrador and they are really nice dogs to have because they aren’t really a hyper dog. They love getting outside to run around so they will do best with a place that has a yard. I hope you enjoyed reading this and can find the perfect dog for you.
More than half of American households have a pet and this trend is just spreading more and more. The main reason people are keeping pets is for the companionship that pets offer. Normal household pets, such as dogs and cats, offer people the attention and the feeling of always having a companion by one’s side that people may not get from other humans. Pets nowadays are often treated as a regular member of one’s family and people will spend a lot of money for their pets. In 2014, Americans has spent an estimated $58 billion on their pets along with hours of care for them (Yuhas, 1). Regardless of the type of pets people may choose to have there is always a common emotional bond that ties the human with the animal between all loving pet owners. This emotional bond benefits humans in various ways.
Many people consider animals as a part of the family. Pets are fun and can be a great addition to many homes. Although, owning an animal can come with many added benefits other than just having a cute and furry friend to play with. People who own pets, may see an increase in their overall quality of life compared to non-pet owners. Pets are a great way to improve the physical, social, and mental health of their owners.
The prevalence of pet ownership in America has more than tripled during the last several decades, rising from 67 million households during the 1970s to 164 million households in 2012 (Human Society, 2014). The conscious decision by 62 percent of American households to own at least one pet represents a long-term commitment of time, money, and dedication to the needs of a wholly dependent entity. The basic needs for all pets, inclusive of companion animals and farm animals, include several provisions. These provisions include access to safe, clean drinking water at all times, access to high quality food commensurate to the weight of the animal, and adequate shelter from excesses of heat and cold (Agape, 2014). Beyond the life-essential basic needs of animals lay commonly accepted requisites that define responsible pet ownership. These requisites or minimal standards of care include access to veterinary care, access to exercise, and freedom from physical harm.
There are tons of things that can come to mind when one thinks of a dog or a cat. Many people make a choice to become a cat person or a dog lover. There are so many things to think about when choosing a pet. When it comes to owning a pet, most people often think about the amount of space, along with the energy levels the cat or dog might have, most people, also include the amount of attention the animal is going to need, then it comes down to the cost of the pet. Choose the pet carefully.
If one wants to live a more responsible, more active, and a healthier life style they should get a dog. Obtaining the previously mentioned qualities are great but gaining a best friend is even better. Dogs are intelligent animals and their personalities are one of a kind. With training, love, and patience any dog can become a great addition to one’s family. Adoption from an animal shelter is a great way to get a dog although there are adoption fees most of the money is being used to vaccinate the dog before its taken to its forever home. Buying a dog from a reputable breeder is another option as how one gets a dog. Reputable breeders usually guarantee a puppy’s health. One might have to go through a few more hoops to be able to buy a dog from
To start with, I believe that selling a dog/cat should become against the law. It is unfair to breed poor animals who probably do not want to be pregnant or become pregnant. Not only is it harming the pet itself, but our community as well. According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) says that inbreeding causes painful and life threatening
The next time you are deciding on a pet, remember that a dog has good behavior, better convenience, and the best loyalty any dog could have over a cat. There are many reasons to get a pet, but how could you pass up a dog, an animal who will faithfully love you forever.
There are the many differences and similarities between the most popular household pets, dogs and cats. These pets really do make a wonderful addition to the family; but, before you decide on which pet to bring home think about the different attention, grooming care, and bathroom usage for each of these pets, to make sure you are able to provide proper care for your pet. Having a pet is a lot of hard work, but in the long run it’s very
First, research the type of pet you are considering as an addition to life. Many websites, pet stores, and book stores have information on many various pets. Simple care sheets are often available which list general details about a specific pet and what it requires. This will help narrow down your selection, whether you are considering something soft and fluffy or a pet with scales and a forked tongue. Some people will buy an Asian Water Monitor without realizing they grow up to six feet long, that they require a lot of live meat like rabbits for a diet, and the person ends up having to find it a new home. Another way to ensure the pet you are considering is what you wa...
Most homeowners normally have pets at home. You will realize that these pets normally provide companionship to their owners. Some of the common pets that are kept by most homeowners include: dogs, cats and so on. Pets are wonderful creatures. They require to be trained from time to time. Most people usually prefer keeping a dog as a pet.
When you’re choosing which pet to get, think about your situation at home and how much free time you have during the day. In today’s household, 36% of them have dogs and 30% of them have cats (U.S. Pet Ownership Statistics). This statistic shows that cats and dogs are the most popular pets and it can be tough to decide which one to get. People that aren’t home a lot shouldn’t get a dog because a dog needs to be played with everyday to keep it health and happy. A cat would be the better choice for someone that is busy a lot because cats wonder and do their own thing, but they will always come back to their home. If you have small kids at home, four or younger, consider getting a cat. Cats are a lot calmer and would be safer around young kids. A dog has a lot of energy and even though they are just trying to play, they could hurt a young kid many different ways. Another thing you need to think about is the size of the animal that you want. All cats are about the same size and there all lap animals. Dogs come in all different sizes; some are small like cats but others are very big. Even though there are small do...
are very sedentary in their lifestyle, and can be as loyal as any dog without the requirements that are usually mandated by the dog. As we see, both cats and dogs are the most popular choice

Apart from that, owning a pet forces one to take on the responsibility of keeping it alive. One’s pet must be fed, watered, and kept healthy. Doing this requires us to move about.
