Since the earth rotates, the wind goes in circular direction. This is called the Coriolis Effect. Named after Gaspard-Gustave Coriolis, the french scientist who discovered these wind patterns. This is also the reason for tornados and cyclones. Wind also causes erosion of land and the sand particles, changing the landscape every now and then. At the rate we’ve been using up our non-renewable natural resources, an alternate to generate electricity is turning out to be a must. With the increase in wind-related industries such as wind farming and wind energy, the root of all this lays at the wind speed detection of the place in which they are to be installed.
Denmark leads the way in the production of Wind Energy producing a whopping 13.8 TW-h annually which contributes to 39% of the total energy used by them. United States of America, one of the largest economies in the world is aiming at depending on wind energy for 20% of their annual consumption of electricity by the year 2030.
