In America, suicide is one of the top ten leading causes of death each year. No one truly knows why a person would want to end their life. People who commit suicide do it for all types of reasons such as honor, stress, depression, bullying, heart ache, or the loss of a loved one. The reasons are practically endless, and the only people who could possibly know why every year people try and succeed in successfully killing themselves are the people who participate in such an act. It is a human response to do what you need to do in order to stop whatever pain you are experiencing, and people who are suicidal are desperate human beings who are trying to rid themselves of their emotional and mental pain. Image someone who has been put down their entire life. They might have always been picked on, bullied, or mentally, physically, and emotionally abused by those around them. They might begin to feel worthless and insignificant, which a lot of the time leads to some form of depression. Suicide will always be better defined in part as an act of extreme desperation, done by people who think that they are doing their loved ones and society a favor. It is only within human nature to do what you need to do in order to stop whatever pain you are experiencing, even if it’s emotional and mental pain, rather than physical. It is also only natural to want to protect those you love and care about, which is why people who commit suicide believe that they are doing everyone a favor by killing themselves, thus making it a selfless act. Anyone who says that suicide is a selfish act will always be wrong in their way of thinking no matter how hard they try to justify their way of thinking. Hundreds of thousands of people give up their lives every year because of all of the pain and suffer that they endure. Rather than trying to make suicidal people even more depressed and dishonor the deceased by stating that suicide is selfish, why don’t those who feel that way try to understand what point of view suicidal people are coming from, so that they can help other suicidal people in the future.
