Suicide is the third leading cause of death in teenagers in the U.S. There are 157,000 teenagers that receive medical care for injuries that they have committed against themselves. Also, they say that boys are more likely to commit suicide than girls are. Girls would be more likely to report that they tried to commit suicide, before a boy would report it. They also say that 1.1 million adults attempted suicide each year, but 38,000 are actually dying, so some of the suicides are being prevented. The more suicides that are prevented means that the medical care that they are doing is working for the patients. There are a lot of programs for suicidal people that need help or want it. They also say suicide kills twice as many people as aids does each year. Suicides are caused by more than one event in life. Like for example, daily stress, depression, drug and alcohol abuse, and so much more. A person that wants to commit suicide has to have felt bad about themselves for a long time. Studies indicates suicide can be prevented through a variety of factors.
There are several factors that prevents teenagers and adults from committing suicide. People believe if suicide isn't discussed, it doesn’t help prevent it, and that the thoughts of suicide grow stronger and stronger day by day as it goes unspoken about. Its not really good for a person to keep things bottled up, because a person can only handle so much stress. Its always good to talk to the person about it and it may help prevent them from doing anything stupid to harm themselves. It might sound crazy, but it’s true. Also it may make the person feel better if they were too talk about it with someone they trusted or have known for a long time. That way they are open about their feel...

Teen suicide can result from a number of scenarios. When you hear of teens who commit suicide, a lot of people would think it's due to the most common cases which are unhappiness or depression. But in fact, there are different factors to what causes suicide. For an example, as stated in the article Teen Suicide from Kids Health, teens attempt suicide for multiple reasons. These reasons revolve around psychological problems such as anxiety, bipolar disorders, or drug abuse or even dealing with bisexuality or homosexuality in an unsupportive family or hostile school environment. The individuals who usually face th...
Approximately 24% of 12-17 year olds have considered suicide and up to 10% have attempted suicide.” (Suicide Intervention Training PG 3). Teens today are very likely to commit suicide for various reasons. In today’s society there are a lot of judging and bullying cases around the world. No matter how much we promote a bully free zone there will always be a couple of cliques, or individuals, who want to bring others down and who do not know the seriousness of bullying. Although bullying is a big cause of suicide, the leading cause is a mental illness that many people are familiar with called depression. “Psychiatric disorders can affect diverse aspects of an individual’s life.”( Dispelling Myth Surrounding Teen Suicide, PG 1). If you or someone you know seems down most of the time, the best thing to do is to go see someone about your despair. If you are diagnosed with depression, prescribed depression medicine can help and can be one way to prevent suicidal thoughts or actions. “There is a lot of evidence that suicide is preventable.”(Cont. “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem” (Donahue). Suicide is a growing problem in our society, especially for teens. Teens have come to a point in life believing there is no escape, no matter how bad the problem. Teens struggling with depression fail to understand what is really happening, and what depression could be leading to. Suicide is now the third leading cause of death for 15 - 24 year olds in the United States. Causes leading to suicide could be, depression, bullying, or even just feeling out of place. We can all help to prevent suicide. Educate yourself and others, motivate to make a change, stop bullying, and openly talk about the problem. Simply by doing things like this you could start a revolution and save millions of lives.

Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to prevent it from happening. Even people who have strong thoughts about suicide have wavering thoughts about doing it until the very last moment when they decide whether they want to live or die. Don't ignore even the small references to death or suicide.
Depression in teenagers is a very serious condition. Many are thought to be attention seekers, moody or just going through a phase typical of the age, yet, each year the amount of teenagers committing suicide is alarming. Suicide is actually the third leading cause of death in people between the ages of 10 and 24 years old at a rate of approximately 4,600 deaths a year (Pappas, 2016). More teenagers die from committing suicide than from car accidents, cancer, heart disease, stroke, pneumonia, AIDS and influenza combined.

There are causes of teen suicide, things that the teen faces, preventions, and outlets. Take it seriously!! Watch what you say and do towards people because you may never know.

According to Korean Governmental Statistical Office, the leading cause of death of teenage group to 30th is a suicide which tells it is a big problem. Unemployment, depression, and social isolation are common reasons of committing suicide. Also in some of the East Asian countries, the hard pressure from studying and getting good grade for the college is one of the biggest reason of the suicide in teenage group, and that’s the reason why a lot of students in Korea committing or thinking about a suicide after the high school senior’s final test. Most of people kill themselves because of environmental factors so most of them think that they are victim who are damaged by social problems but I believe that committing suicide should be a criminal offense.
Today, teenage suicide is considered a big issue in America. Many factors contribute to this action whether it is overdosing on alcohol and drugs, cutting ones wrist with a sharp object, or pulling the trigger of a gun to put an end to their existence. Suicide is on the rise due to many factors such as family issues, social issues, and psychological issues. Increased education and awareness for the victims and their families could drastically reduce the number of suicide attempts yearly.
The Suicide Prevention Program will be designed to fit for the students who attend Sul Ross State University, in which the age ranges between 18 years to 22 years old. During this time for majority of students, is when they become homesick and start to discover themselves throughout their college years. Students may become overloaded by school work, school problems, friend problems, and family problems; in which they will not know how to handle on their own without their dependency from their parents. If their load becomes too much to handle for that one individual, they begin to travel down the path of suicide. This is where the Suicide Prevention Program, will intervene to help assist the student from ever getting to act. The SPP will soon
There are multiple negative effects of teen suicide. Large numbers of teens that do not have support from friends, peer groups, family, or religious association may and can feel isolated from the world and disconnected. (Larry’s). The tragedy of a young person dying as a result of overwhelming hopelessness is devastating to everyone. Suicide rates differ between boys and girls. Girls think about and attempt suicide about twice as often as boys, and attempt suicide by overdosing. Boys die by suicide about four times as often as girls, due to using more lethal methods, such as firearms, hanging, or jumping from heights. (Nock). There are several different factors that may lead a teenager to take their life, but the most common is depression. Feelings of hopelessness and anxiety, along with feelings of being trapped in a life that one cannot handle, are contributors to teen suicide. It is important to be on the lookout for signs that your teen may attempt suicide. Some of the warning signs are similar to normal adolescent behavior. At times, preventing teen suicide means treating teen depression. Since 75 percent of the people who commit suicide are depressed (according to the University of Texas), it is a beneficial start to begin treating the symptoms of teen depression. (Teen Suicide Overview).
Suicide is a much bigger problem than society will admit; the causes, methods, and prevention need to be discussed more openly. Committing suicide probably sounds like a foreign idea to most people, but to the people who think about it, they deal with it every day. More importantly, the question is what leads people to kill themselves? In general, most people do not want to actually kill themselves, even though many people joke about it on a daily basis. Being human, we all have a certain amount of will to live.
There are around 40,000 suicides per year. [IMAGE] [IMAGE] Suicide is committed due to depressions, family or pet bereavement, divorce, social isolation or psychiatric illnesses. Suicide is self-inflicted because the person attempts to take his/her own life.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds, and the sixth leading cause for 5 to 14 year olds. Suicide accounts for twelve percent of the mortality in the adolescent and young adult group. Young males are more common than young woman suicides. These are only children who followed through with the suicide. For every successful suicide there are fifty to one hundred adolescent suicide attempts. In other words, more than five percent of all teenagers tried to commit suicide, and the number is still rising. It is scary to think that four percent of high school students have made a suicide attempt within the previous twelve months. In a small safe town like Avon, in the Avon High School where you and I practically live, you can see the faces of 22 students that have tried to commit suicide. That is enough to fill a classroom.
Suicidal tendencies in adolescents begin around the ages of 10 through 19, with warning signs, prevention, treatment, and the causes and effects it has on the human psyche. Suicide is when someone decides to take his or her own life because they are suffering from a painful mental illness and have lost hope in who they are. Because when hope is lost, some feel like suicide is the only solution to truly make the adolescent pain go away permanently. Scientific evidence that shows the people who have committed suicide have a diagnosable treatable mental disorder or substance abuse disorder (The National Institute of Mental Health, 2010). Those people might have been suffering from illnesses such as depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, and or suffering from bullying.
