Have zoos been doing what they have been telling people, many have not. Because zoos have been one of the hot spots on the news they are starting propaganda they they have not been able to achieve. Some of the things they have tried to be devoted to is education, animal conservation, and animal welfare. But most zoos have not been acting on animal conservation and also since they are under human control you would think they should be treated humanely.
As zoos have been a big concentration for the zoo's many have been trying to make themselves look good by saying they have been acting on animal conservation. When the zoos have the animals reaped there for many generations they have lost most of their knowledge of what they need to know to

In zoos they use the animals as displays to show people what life in the wild is like, but they are just trapped in a cage not a wide open savanna or dense jungle. If you have ever been in a room by yourself or with the same people for a long period of time it can be boring and at some point even bad for you! “Studies have shown that animals can suffer physically, mentally, and emotionally.” This quote shows that just like humans animals can become hurt from being in a restricted environment. Also like us animals need to keep their minds active by learning and exploring, but you can not do that is you are restricted. “For this reason, captive environments must be complex enough to compensate for the lack of natural freedom and choice, and they must facilitate expression of natural movement and behavior patterns.” This quote also shows that the animals need to stay occupied and keep their brains moving bt it is hard for the animals to do that when they are in a restricted enclosure. Most of the zoos in the zoos in the United States of America do not act upon on what they are saying they are doing but instead at most putting in minimal
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
Animals can become depressed and lifeless when living in a zoo. They start showing unnatural behavior such as pacing and sleeping all the time.
Animals, particularly the larger ones, are unable to live comfortably in small enclosures. Zoos tend to forget that larger animals have the hardest times getting used to the spaces that they are forced to live in. According to James Nolan’s article, “All the Reasons Why Zoos Should Be Banned”, “…the average lion or tiger has 18,000 times less [space] in captivity than it does in the wild; polar bears a million times less [space]” (7). Although zoos try to recreate their natural habitats, they cannot possibly succeed. The animals, if not born at the zoo, lived in large areas and had all of the freedom that they
Zoos introduces captive-bred projects to take care of some animals for years and reintroduce them back to the wild. However, captive animals usually lose their survival skills in wild after under an absolute protection for a long time, especially those who are used to learning from their parents. They no longer able to escape from predators or track preys. Reintroduction often needs to be abandoned permanently.
Even though while in zoos they can have more stress being around people zoos will help the animals
Being in captivity means that animals do not have the same environment as free animals. Also according to Jane Goodall elephants need more room to roam. In the article ( Pro or Con ) animales stress out when in small places. According to the video, “ Born wild” animals can be kept in a cage without a companion for a
They’re nature empowers them to run free. Free in the wilderness, where they were born. Unfortunately, zoos go against the course of nature, and ultimately ruins their natural instincts. The origins of zoos date back to colonial times when victorious nations would exploit animals from conquered lands and show them off.
There is a tone of bad things about zoos. The conditions of zoos affect animals in many different ways. Most of the ways are negative . I’m going to explain why zoos are bad for animals and why we shouldn’t keep animals in the zoos. That includes the poor habitat, low diet, and not a normal breeding process.
Zoo education is a holistic discipline targeted at zoo visitors, staff and the wider community aiming to promote an understanding of, and concern and respect for biodiversity, animals and the natural world, and encourage action for a sustainable future" (Centre for Environment Education,2006). Several studies (Horton, 2008; Jamieson, 1985) have shown that there is evidence that zoos are very successful in educating people about animals. People learn from visiting zoos physiology, behavior
Families strolling, children squealing , and adults gazing with interest; People go to zoos seeking entertainment; a way to see animals they never imagined being so up close and personal with. At least as personal as a someone can get with a two inch glass pane and fields of grass in the way. The zoo provides a fun and educational time for families, but the joy of seeing adorable creatures blinds people from realizing the pain zoo animals live with. Yes, from human perspective it seems very enthralling. But what about the animals actually inside these enclosures?
If anything zoo’s teach kids not to respect other individuals and their freedom. Showing that it is ok to cage the animals is teaching kids to not respect the animals. Also while animals are in zoos and aquariums they tend act bizarre and unnatural so they act different than they would in their natural habitat, this paints a distorted picture of an animal’s behaviour and actions. This further proves that animals shouldn’t be forced into
While most people say that by going to the Zoo you are having a wonderful experience and learning a lot, some people strongly disagree they might even say that the people that work at the zoo now less than what the signs on the front of the exhibits say. Why should they be working there if they don’t know how to take care of the animals they are working with. Zoos are horrible prisons that are harming animals and making them unhealthy until they die or they kill them. Zoos are prisons where they are harming animals by not giving them the things they need and instead provide them with the wrong things.
Zoos are the best way for people who would have never seen these animals otherwise to learn and gain an up-close understanding of
The state of mind in which zoo animals are in, is an unhealthy one. Zoos are meant to keep animals in captivity to put on a show for humans. This is not a humane thing to do, and zoos should be banned all around the world. “Between 3,000 and 5,000 healthy ‘surplus’ animals are ‘culled’ (i.e., killed) by European zoos each year (PETA UK), this is not just happening in the United States. There have been multiple cases in which animals have been killed in zoos, put to sleep (killed on purpose) because of “incidents” that wasn’t the animals fault, and many more things that just are not right.
Furthermore, zoo animals are often exposed to chemicals, solvents and other toxic substances. Finally, it is common for visitors to tease and provoke caged animals. In conclusion, therefore, it is not true to say that zoos are educational or they help to protect endangered species.
