Persuasive Essay: Why Animal Testing Should Be Wrong?

2264 Words5 Pages

Do you look for the label “Not Tested on Animals” on the products you buy? The idea of animal testing has been around for a long time. Animal research is a process where scientists test new products or theories that results in the suffer or death of animals most of the time. There are a lot of topics that concerns animal rights being argued at this moments in every corner of this world. Animal research is a major part of us humans science, but we have plunder the rights of the animals. While a lot of people think it should not be justified, there are a lot of opposite views on whether animal experimentation is injustice and should be banned. I believe this procedure is unjustified, and it is more of a tradition since it started a …show more content…

Instead of using other species to predict human reaction, we can use Harvard 's Wyss Institute’s "organs-on-chips that contain human cells grown in a state-of-the-art system to mimic the structure and function of human organs and organ systems. The chips can be used instead of animals in disease research, drug testing, and toxicity testing and have been shown to replicate human physiology, diseases, and drug responses more accurately than crude animal experiments do"(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Harvard 's Wyss Institute has created a new way to test products with their "organs-on-chips" which can function like a human organ. This can replace animal experimentation in labs. We should definitely replace animal experimentation with this new technology. Animal testing should be banned because they do not provide accurate prediction while this new technology can stimulate the exact function of a real human organ. It can provide much more precise data. Why should we kill more lives when we can both benefit from this technology? Another choice is to use "modern methods include sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues (also known as in vitro methods), advanced computer-modeling techniques (often referred to as in silico models), and studies with human volunteers"(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). I believe the modern day technologies are more accurate than testing new products on a entirely different species. Why do we continue to kill animals in experiments when we can use these more accurate technologies. If we want to prevent the injustice in animal testing, every scientists should start using the advanced
